Because this storyline has been recycled about 99% of the time. Damsel in distress ML, no backbone, trauma and just a mess actually lol and we always have to go through the roller coaster of him actually growing a spine lol. I mean I’m honestly tired of these kind of stories, I wish that all the new BLs coming out have original storylines with good plots and these recycled ones.

I mean if your bl's main plot is actually about family relationships while the romantic relationship develops alongside it, it wouldn't make sense if there weren't any family here.
I mean reading into the story, removing the sci fi aspect of it all, the story is actually quite mature. When's the last time a bl actually tackled family trauma in one story and not make their partner the cure of their suffering? Not everyday I'll tell you that.
