I really am curious to know why some of you who read this bl love it so much? What’s so good about it?
So for me, I'm reading cuz when I heard the BJ Alex author made ANOTHER scummy ML x weak MC story, I said "why tf not I guess".
Just like BJ Alex, I don't love it. I follow it like I'm following a really shitty soap opera: just never taking it seriously, laughing at how ridiculous it all is, waiting for the lazy redemption arc and "happy" ending. It's classic drama, and honestly I've seen worse than Jinx.
Also once the author makes the relationship mutual, the smut they make can be pretty hot. Not often I see a top squirt.

I love the art style but could wipe my ass with the story. That's enough to have kept me hooked since the very beginning - despite the less than riveting plot

I think readers were attracted initially because of the creator’s prev hit story and also the sensational art + smut—this alone can usually excuse weak plots and retain viewers. There is also a formula for engagement which is some form of injustice or pitiable circumstance that compels readers to root strongly for the MC or their cause. If this hook is strong enough it can justify people’s weekly reading of crap so that one day they may experience the catharsis of a sweet end to the characters sorrows. This ofc is a delusion because no ending would excuse all of the VILE shit that goes on but here we are. (=・ω・=)
I really love the slow burn and the character development. The actions are good too even if they're a bit too short. Also, I just like cinderella storys. Another point from the author too!(▰˘◡˘▰)

In my opinion I feel like James did not love her as a person but loved her as an object she was just something pretty for him to look at so he married her he knew nothing about her or cared to learn about her as a person she was just a novelty item for him to have a pretty wife that’s all she was to that selfish narcissistic prick that’s why he never saved her even though he had multiple chances to because he never cared about her as a person he was just satisfied to have the pretty woman he saw back at the academy as his wife I feel no remorse for that man at all he made his bed so better die in it

Yes they are childish but remember they are CHILDREN. They aren’t mature adults only the mc is. They are children with their own issue that they are struggling with give them time to grow and mature.
Yeah your so right and MC only just became mature due to the trauma of losing his family before that he was extremely selfish and childish as an adult!
And of course the little sister is going to cling to her big brother she lost her father so young and her brother stepped up to be the man of the house. So course as a child she's not going to react rationally to the though of him leaving her behind.
