CW: Non consent
Some old style yaoi stories where none of the relationships were healthy and loving. They were let down by guys with weakness of character and master manipulation skills.

From the first teen pair with the slutty friend who indiscriminately sleeps with anyone being raped and lied to by his “best friend”, to the pair of college students with the self centred uke with poor communication skills, to the final toxic yandere who crippled the one he wanted and killed his lovers sister, leaving the man he loved obsessively to be fully emotionally whipped and dependent upon the seme.

To be honest none of the couples were likeable, but if you are in the mood for toxic relationships or a yandere, then these fast and easy reads may appeal.

If you vibe with a toxic romance then this may be your story. Ian Summers is a very rare pure blood dragon, and true to a dragons nature you better not take his treasure away. Danny Winters is the gentle yet emotionally fragile half wolf who becomes the dragons most treasured belonging. And when he ran because of his insecurities, Danny left and obsessed man hunting him for a full year. Now he will see just how obsessive the dragon he loves can be.

That ending bites :(
While it’s great for all the original real life characters, it sucks that the one person who loved Liza for who she was without even having read her story, was the one who was left alone. So sad because theirs was the love that defied fate and reality, the one that ticked the boxes for a loved that could cross every boundary. But there was no real way for him to be with her, even the “What if” bits were a stretch. He was such a joyous character and so likeable that it made the ending suck. Points to the author for creating such a sweetie though.

Contrary to many recent commenters, I enjoyed this story very much and did not see the FL as being weak or the MC as not having genuine feelings. Ellzay Thyase starts out as the reincarnated form of a young Korean girl who was drawn to the tragic destiny of the boy who yearned for love but surrendered to darkness, Azef Randall, from the novel ‘The Crest of God’. ‘Zay’ and ‘Asef’ are more closely tied together than you would think at first. For Zay, there is a desperation to spare the much abused Asef the loneliness and abuse of his existence that always corrupts his very soul and makes him the doomed villain.

She seems so delicate because she has a gentle heart and cries for the villains fate. But given the severity and amount of abuse and neglect suffered by Asef over his life, and the joy that many seemed to take in being cruel to him, I think a strong (in the way of leaping in and taking charge) FL could not appeal. Consider how much of the violence done unto him was perpetrated by a woman who was meant to care for him. He needed a seemingly vulnerable and delicate woman who saw the good in him to stir any remnants of protective feelings he may have had. Someone who loved him for all he could and should have been, who saw through his lies and understood him anyway.

The more you read the story and understand how deep their ties to each other are, the more you realise how strong the FL is. Always willing to sacrifice herself to ensure his happiness, she would walk through the fires of hell to give him a chance for happiness. The sad part though, is that you realise without Zay being in his life, Asef was unable to find happiness. He stays bound by the demons of his childhood.

I won’t add any more spoilers to show why these two are so special together, or why you can trust Asef to treasure Zay before himself, but if you see him through her eyes as the story unfolds and understand that she will always do anything to try save him from loneliness, you will begin to understand the strength of her sacrifice and the depth of their love for each other.

Very possessive seme x soft uke. Date Kinnosuke was a script writer who had fallen for new actor Furuya Mako when they first met. Soon the two entered a sex friends relationship that wasn’t enough for either of them. Mako felt toyed with, desiring a closer lover like connection with the older man he admired so much. Date was insecure of his hold on the beautiful young man he felt fate had brought to him, especially as fans started gathering around Mako. It took a night at a love hotel and angry frustration from both men to reveal their true deeper feelings for each other. I liked how it was the weaker seeming uke who was strong enough to be vulnerable and determined enough to be demanding of a confession that made these two get on the right track at the end.

Akon Tenkawa has been searching for the reincarnated soul of the man he loved for hundreds of years. As an Izuna Master (able to use his fox spirit Eika Byakko, to make premonitions and cast spells) he sent Eika out to guide Ryuuichirou Hinano to him once his soul was found. In this lifetime, Ryuuichirou is a University student who is shocked and in denial that he has any past life, let alone one where he loves a man. I liked this story for the power of Akon’s love. He lived many lonely lifetimes so his happiness at finding Ryuuichirou and his eagerness to love him was really quite sweet.

Trigger Warning: Rape, control, abuse, pain, blood play, violence (seriously..you are warned).
The second story followed Akons’ fox ayakashi Eika and his long time arch nemesis Mamoru the dog ayakashi (and mountain God). While Eika was used to fighting other ayakashi, he had never faced one as crazed and powerful as Mamoru. The mountain god has no human compassion or gentleness, but he wanted to claim for himself a version of human love and he wanted Eika. The way he claimed the fox spirit was with extreme force and dominance, blood and pain. If you are into blood play you may like this story just be warned that consent between these creatures was non existent. I think the only way you could have such a yandere and obsessed relationship with this amount of violence is with non human demon spirits. Keeping their natures in mind I went with the story, but I am not a big fan of power imbalance in relationships and would like to see more power or control from Eika to make their dynamic more interesting.

I read this story only based on the blurb, so I had no idea it was to be a 3P relationship.

So for me, when Jan broke up with Jamil (who he cared for greatly but needed to work on himself so he could love him) and then went in a free fall of sex with the guy he saw nearly kill Jamil, I was horrified. I thought Jan was a pathetic, low life cheating mofo. He spent all that time bonking his brains out with Pray and never even bothered to visit Jamil. Wth?! What a total dick! I have no idea why I kept reading, but I did.

Then Jamil got out and we hear his backstory, and suddenly Jan loves him? Segue into my next brain fart moment as I clue in that this may be a 3P story. Ofc, I had bonded with Jamil so I started to feel a bit better about reading on, and I love a good 3P story. But even when these guys became a committed threesome, Jamil seemed to be left out too much. And I still was grinding my teeth that Jamil didn’t even rate a hospital visit…

That’s the problem with a polygamy romance. Balancing the relationship. I have read a lot of great stories with multiple partners and while this one ticked the boxes for devotion to the MC, the way it began with the second partner had irreversibly left me viewing Jan as a weak, uncaring and selfish manslut who only thinks of himself and I am sad for Jamil who seems to be a lesser character after Pray nearly killed him. Such a shame, it could have been awesome, but instead it was ‘pretty good’ and left me feeling irked.

Note: Not as tagged (not harem story or yaoi)
This was a surprisingly enjoyable story. The comments don’t do it justice because it has a lot more depth to it than what you would expect from the beginning. The story starts out in the insular yet rather over the top Wild City, following main protagonist Jimmy (a werewolf accepted into mainstream society) who works at the majestic postal service. Yes..majestic. Just check that building out. The story has a rather surreal or fantasy feeling at first. There are over the top enemies, explosions, oddball directors of the postal service and an unusual emphasis on being the best delivery person and be promoted to elite. Tbh, the beginning felt a bit like a bad anime with lots of insane villains popping up all the time and potential romances for Jimmy crossing his path. But, then the story twisted in a big way and nothing and no one were what they seemed. It was like the epiphany moment in the Truman Show when you started to look at everything you know and realise you don’t know much at all. The latter part of the story is gory, violent, cruel and sad. And suddenly all those little things that bothered you made began to make sense. I liked the ending, and the final chapter was an epilogue style that offered a glimpse at life a few years down the track. That happy ending was needed after all the crap that happened through the story. As I mentioned, it was a surprisingly good story and I give it 4 stars, mostly because the beginning did drag on a bit and because some oddball categorised this as a harem and it was definitely not. More like a shounen-ai if anything and nothing remotely explicit or harem like occurring.

It takes a shounen-ai to give a wholesome Omegaverse story full of kind and friendly people and a little town that looks perfect. This sweet story had alpha Ooji-sensei in his first teaching job working with grade 1 students. He runs into the guidance counsellor Yasumi-sensei, a gentle beta whom he had fallen in love with as a student at school himself. At that time, Yasumi had gently refused the confession and so in the present day Ooji had some residual embarrassment. But as these 2 renewed their acquaintance on an equal footing as adults they fall for each other. There is no angst or unnecessary drama; simply a happy love story full of good feelings.
