I think his entire thing is that he chose the crown prince over his family, not just for show but also emotionally. He's always going poor crown prince, but he's a little self aware that he's ignoring his son.

He also started hating his omega cuz bleh omegas and he breaks up with him and then control him anyway because he is still attracted to him
Side stories are when things are consensusal and fluffy only so yeah story is shit, but if you actually want to check it out still then read few last chapters and sides they are okay (nothing more tho)

Sadly nowadays almost every bl manhwa have this plot is so unnecessary sometimes I thought the the lead I read first few chapter are different from the end it's so irritating when you have force to read this force rape plots just yesterday I end checkmate and first 11 to 10 chapter ml rape mc and I found it very very unnecessary even ml's past self not like that it doesn't matter which circumstances he have that time that doesn't mean he rape mc and after that his character turn 180 degree to green flag and by end it's so cute and head over heels for mc.
I love regression plots but I hate when the bad stuff that happens in the first live is all a "misunderstanding" and the bad guy ends up happy
