Well if we look into our history, cameras and microphones were invented just a decade apart. Neon lights were invented several decades later. What doesn't make sense is how commoners landed with these gadgets within a couple years of invention. It typically takes several years before it becomes a commercial good. At this point, only the elite should have the means to buy them.
