While I feel bad for JK, because no one should grow up in the abuse that he did, I REALLY hope the plot isn’t going in the direction of Dan forgiving him just because of it. The backstory was much needed to give us the reason he acts the way he does but it’s still doesn’t absolve him of the hurt/trauma he’s inflicted on others. Genuinely hope mingwa is capable of writing this man experiencing growth and healing so he can earn forgiveness in a way that isn’t perpetuating the cycle of abuse

I didn’t think it was possible for the side stories to be the thing that make me hate an ML but here we are. If my partner went behind my back with my parents and friends about my own outing and then did not inform me I’d be pissed. That isn’t some big romantic gesture, it’s grounds for a breakup. In a real relationship that sort of coddling would be so manipulative and isolating. The author romanticizing that sort of toxic possessiveness by making the mc be all “haha wow that must mean he really likes me” gives me the ick
Truly only sticking with this story because I want to see what sort of wizardry the author pulls out their ass to make Jaekyung redeemable …... At least in BJ Alex, you could tell the ml had a sweet personality underneath some trauma. But after an entire 53 ch season, I just cannot see that with Jaekyung. Man is built on anger issues and selfishness. It’s hard to imagine him ever being soft or affectionate in the way that Dan deserves
tbh I also wonder how she's gonna bring it full circle, but i keep reading the ch where jjk gets blind drunk by accident, and i think his soft side is very much there, he just doesn't let himself or anyone else see it! how he's gonna reach that stage whilst sober is the real question for me
I’ll agree to disagree because there’s literally nothing special that happens in that chapter other than jaekyung being so bumbling drunk that he follows what pace Dan asks him to go. Which isn’t sweet, it’s just common courtesy. Tbh I think the sweetest thing JK ever did was spend time with Dan’s grandma. And that’s the only moment I can think of that might show a softer side

While probably unintended because I ain’t giving that much credit to a yaoi manhwa, this is an example of fawning/fawn response: an unconscious trauma response where you try to please others over your own wants or needs typically developed in childhood. And remember our mc has been raised to shut the fuck up and follow orders.
Also it is been HEAVILY implied that our mc has been sa’d, probably by this dude, and the memories have been blocked out which is another trauma response.
While I don’t think any of that is being portrayed well or in good taste there are irl victims who have made similar “dumb decisions” as ya’ll so kindly put it and it still would not have been their fault they got assaulted. Let’s point out how frustrated we are with the author going the extra mile to “damsel in distress” our mc instead of making victim blamey comments shall we because ya’ll lookin like
