I have a theory regarding why only specific people gets possessed by the black sea. I think they're only able to possess those who have already given up their lives or just fully accept the sea. Like, the dad got possessed cause he was suicidal, the othe girl who had a baby got possessed when she went to the sea searching for her little sister who was probably lost already. The prisoner also fully accepted the sea when was about to drown.
The Kanagi is actually more complicated i think? I think being "blessed" really is just randomized. It was just a complete coincidence that our mc was blessed at that time during his attack. I previously thought that being blessed had the same condition as being possessed but then there were kids who were seeming loved but suddenly just received the powers. Honestly for me this was really peak. But i totally understand why others might've been frustrated about how fast things were moving. Maybe the reason why i never got annoyed is because I read this thinking that the reason why there was no indication of just how much time has passed between chapter or scenes is because they're Immortals. Even Adain at that one chapter was shocked about how Elise has died not realizing it was because decades has already passed since they first met. Immortals have a different concept of time than the rest of us, and not knowing or realizing just how much time has passed just comes with it. I really appreciated that part tbh, especially on Anne's arc. It showed that being immortal was not a blessing but a curse. She watched her whole bloodline die down to a single child due to old age while she never even looked any older since the night she "betrayed" Lucius. This was just really peak for me y'all. I too really wish it was way longer tho. Like. I would die happily if this had 100+ chapters lcmdosmsospss

It's a bit fast but I absolutely love the complicated and detailed world building and how the characters aren't black n white bad/good. Honestly even Frieren seems fast to me but I don't mind it cause I'll take a fast paced story taking place in over 100 years than a love at first sight 100+ chapters story that uses misunderstandings to create drama. And I think if I really love something, it feels a bit faster anyway, recently rewatched LOTR and I was like, I don't remember them being this short?
