My guess was at that point: Alphas can smell the difference in an Omega's pheromones in case the Omega has someone he is interested in (sexually or even on a love level). But I'm not sure if my thought is correct, so we gotta wait and see. ;u;

I think you're right since it wasn't just Takaba who smelled the difference, Karasuma's ex-boyfriend did too. But it seemed liked the scent's seductive only to the person the Omega is interested with. Like the scent's coded or something.

So in other Omegaverse, there is a thing called "fated pair". So fated pairs have strong attractions to each other and can smell the scent on flowers on the one who they are fated to be with. That's probably what it is.

Yeah, I guess so. It's just that the series didn't seem to sway to that kind of plot but I guess it's the only way to explain their attraction. I remember that one series "... Destiny" (sorry can't remember) the "fated pair" concept was just a myth so I assumed that in Omegaverse, there are several types of plot, too, and thought this didn't have that.

What that means is that the chemical compound or structure of Karasuma's pheromones was catalyzed by Takaba. In other words, from the moment they met, Karasuma's pheromones started to change to specifically attract Takaba; the mechanisms of mate recognition; and the reason ass-whole Tobinaga was able to perceive the change is probably because he is actually in love with Karasuma and is sensitive to his pheromones.

Tobinaga in love with Karasuma, I doubt that. Maybe Karasuma releases pheromones that attracts any alpha, a general type of pheromone for Omegas or for Karasuma but it changed when he met OR fell in love with Takaba. Like it became specific to only attract Takaba, like an engagement/wedding ring that wards off other people interested and only matched with Takaba.

But that's exactly what I said, LOL!....meeting Takaba catalyzed Karazuma's pheromones to change to specifically attract him; Regarding Tobinaga, I'm almost positive he's in love with Karasuma for several reasons: his possessiveness and jealousy, his obsession in subjugating Karasuma, his sensitivity to the change in Karasuma's pheromones, but most importantly, when at the end of this chapter Takaba asks him why he didn't pair with Karasuma when he was the first Alpha Karasuma had acknowledged and opened his heart to, that was a message from Takaba as in "You had your chance and you lost it" and we have a shot of Tobinaga's face with a defeated look, implying regret, that he recognizes his loss:

Now, the reasons why he chose not to pair with Karasuma could be multitudinous, but I would vote for arrogance, as in he deemed Karasuma as an Omega too inferior for an elite Alpha such as himself. Conversely, I would also argue that the blond Alpha that carried Karasuma from the car during the heat episode is also in love with Karasuma, based on the sincere loyalty he manifested throughout, in contrast with the other workers in the office that seemed to resent and look down on Karasuma.

Utou, you mean. Yes he is in love with Karasuma, I just saw all the raws and damn, I love him. He respected Karasuma since he didn't choose him and was satisfied to stay by his side as support whenever Karasuma was wasted. Crap, that 7th chapter was gold. I wanted to cry. I'll probably would once it's translated. Ugh, the feels lingers.

Karasuma had only Utou and Tobinaga get close to him but never really reaching the real Karasuma. Takaba did because he won Karasuma by being different. Now is it really a "fated pair" phenomenon or they fell in love first THEN the change of pheromones happened? How does it go in omegaverse? I'm a noob. Because it would seem that Karasuma had a choice, he could choose who he can be with and to whom his pheromones would change for.

Possessiveness and jealousy are natural for overbearing people like him but I didn't get that Tobinaga had a regretful face and I just remembered that he was too worked up on Karasuma being an omega, now that you've mentioned it. Like convincing Takaba to think the way an alpha should think but Takaba just wouldn't budge. Love it is, then. But thank the heavens they didn't end up together because Tobinaga would just be like the father Karasuma has ever wanted, and K does not deserve that.

I agree with you; I was biting my nails in fear and nervousness in this last scene where Tobinaga grabbed Karasuma and licked his nape and almost fell off my chair in relief when Takaba barged in the room...phew! That was too close for my poor nerves!

Regarding the mythos of the "fated pair", so far it has been consistent throughout the Omegaverse, that it is an instantaneous chemical reaction; once they touch or are in close proximity to each other, the Omega's pheromones get activated (sometimes even triggering the heat out of cycle) and the Alpha's receptors pick it up, forming an instantaneous attraction, not necessarily automatic love, but definitely immediate sexual attraction. Now, some rules in the Omegaverse vary by author; for example, in some stories, Betas can impregnate Omegas, while in others they can't; in some stories, Omegas can reject the chemical changes of the "bite" if they don't approve of the Alpha (the bite gradually disappears) and they can pair with someone else; while in others, once the Omega is bit, it's game over; even if they were raped, they will forever only sexually respond to that alpha.

So while the main canon of Alpha, Beta, Omega, male pregnancy and the institutionalized discrimination of Omegas is consistent throughout, the Omegaverse, the authors can choose to change sub-aspects of the mythos and this is where it could very well be a 50/50 scenario regarding Karasuma's and Takaba's "fated bond". It could be that Karasuma's pheromones changed only after he fell in love with Takaba, and that he is in fact the one in control of his own destiny and not his animal instinct; but it could also be that the pheromones started changing from the moment they first met, whereupon they felt instantly sexually aware of each other, but because of the circumstances, their personal traumas and prejudices regarding their genders, they were being stubborn and denied their attraction and growing feelings with all their might. However, I have only seen this latter scenario and not the former; so far it has been the "instantaneous awareness, falling in love, I wanna jump your bones now" type of reaction, which I've always disliked about the Omegaverse because, what would happen if your "fated pair" was an asswhole like Tobinaga whom you had nothing in common with? I shudder at the thought!

Thanks for the omegaverse 101. :) I have only read few omegaverse stories so I'm not aware of the differences, well I really didn't want to, I don't like omegaverse, this in particular just happen to catch my attention. So I guess it's a combination of Karasuma able to choose who his pheromones change for and "fated pair" phenomenon. Karasuma chose Tobinaga but fate just happened and they didn't end up together because he'll meet someone better and right off the bat they were attracted to each other.

I honestly want to read a story where the fated pair is a person who's a part asshole or not compatible with and the only thing that got them together was that bond. I want to see how the author would work that story out.
