I can get behind cruelty when it has a purpose and an intellectual reason behind it. This is just stupid it's not well explained, it seems like s badly adapted novel

The problem is that thematically this is so...empty?? We've been dragging this out for what feels like 30 chapters. All for THIS. There might be more to it cause I seem to remember a scar?? But if not then that's just sad. This wasn't even his fault. It would have still been stupid if she got hit by the car, but she's the one that tripped? Get over yourself lol. To hurt her more and reject her cause you're scared of hurting her is stupid. But it's not s problem if the story treats it as such. And yes, ppl do tell him he's stupid all the time but this could have been shortened to way less characters.
Not to mention there was no foreshadowing of this. It's like the author had a half formed idea where they wanted to write fwb smut and then decided to include drama out of nowhere. Ik she probably planned it more in depth but like. The execution just leaves muh to be desired
