Question do you guys know the three subcategories for BL??? If not I'm here to break it down.
The first subcategory for BL is yaoi. Now we all know yaoi but yaoi in BL really represent the sexual side so stories where they just have straight up sex like Dear Door and others would fall in this category. These stories can be sexualized and most of the targeted audience is for female.
The second subcategory is shounen-ai and in this one the main aspect of it is the romantic aspect one where they focus more on loving and caring rather than having sex. So stories like Here U Are is a great example of shounen-ai. This category also focus more on teenager and young adult love. and most stories aren't sexualized
The last one is Bara. This one is different from the other two. For one thing this category focuses more to the gay men. And secondly it focuses on the aspect of being a gay men in Japan.
