He's literally the worst. I get how he's feeling but if someone almost died fighting for their life that you say you love, compassion should win over your anger. Put your selfishness (making it about how YOU feel about almost losing your wife) aside and comfort your loved one and thank the heavens she made it. He should be crying tears of joy that she woke up
Yall needa read this story again. Every time Riftan is angry, his anger is not towards Maxi. He is angry at himself. From the beginning he felt guilty that he made Maxi marry him, taking her out of the cozy life (he thinks) she had. His anger in the latest chapter isn't at Maxi. It's him, once again, hating himself. That's whole thing in his side of the story. He hates himself because he thinks he ruined Maxi's life by making her marry him.
But when did he put his feelings over her well-being? Because I remember him fighting with Maxi multiple times trying to convince her to not join the war (cause it's dangerous). You think he's not happy she's alive? Mfker would've probably killed himself from guilt had Maxi died. Riftan does not have the emotional intelligence to hug and reassure Maxi in this moment. And Maxi also doesn't have the emotional intelligence to be able to think about what her recklessness makes other people feel. I don't think you understand the characters you're reading about in this story. Maxi does what she does because she wants to be useful to others regardless of her well-being. And Riftan does what he does because he's concerned for Maxi and feels like everything bad that happens is his fault for marrying her.
We canāt have read the same manga, if Iām to label anyone selfish Iāll give it to max she even acknowledged it herself and felt shame when talking to Idyllia confirming that she was being selfish, honestly out of the two Max posses more of a danger to him than vice versa, max behaves and thinks like an infant hence riftans infantilization to the point even princess agnes points it out, imagine having a partner with no regard for thier personal and well being follow you into war? (Ofcourse itās all sensationalized because itās a book but do you even understand how ridiculous that is in and of itself?) and honestly most her worrying and wanting to āhelpā and be āusefulā just comes of as selfish and excessive of course due to her past and trauma, riftan is by no means a saint, but maxi is the most selfish person here so far , the female lead canāt be always right or pitiful or helpless all the time no matter what she does itās a boring narrative.
I wish he could've at least apologized. I feel like in these stories, the person who did something wrong to the other never even acknowledges it. Just tries to "do something" to "make it better". I feel like him saying he's sorry he killed his family could be a step it the right direction since he was following orders anyways

This feels like Naruto all over again
