I have the same problem but I also saw other people say that its slow so probably its just the way it is.

Hmm...Let's look at it in this way: if you compare a common shoujo story to a common yaoi story, the yaoi story, no matter how cheesy it is, will always have what a shoujo story has, but better, because girls like hot guy, beautiful and romantic stories and forbidden relationships which make stories more spicy. And yaoi doubles those things, so girls like it more.
At least that's what I think ╮(￣▽￣)╭

I wonder if it's not just a safe way to project one's fantasies and suppressed desires (especially when it comes to submission or dub-con). Personally, I'm not very fond of the stories involving stereotypical feminine roles (like the damsel in distress or so), but I don't mind if it's about a man. Well, it makes me a hypocrite, I know that...

for me it's because I can't empathize with girls who act spoiled or too clingy or uselessly crying everytime they don't get their way. Most shoujo manga have girls like that. And girls in smut shoujo manga are embarrassingly slutty. No way I would read them ever again.
I welcome shoujo manga with strong girls though.
Also seeing guys act cute when they fall in love is really great. and in yaoi, you get two guys falling in love and acting cute because of it. and then the smexy scenes came and you get two see sexy guys doing each other. hell yeah.

Because non yaoi romance usually doesn't focus nearly enough on the boys emotions, which we might be curious about. Its a change of pace, really.

my reasons are the same as eveyones, two guys are sexy, girls in shoujo are annoying, ect ect. but also ive gotten to the point where i cant sit through a really long manga unless its life fairtytail or attack on titan. the romance ones have way too much drama!!!! and the shoujo ones that are short are dumb. the yaoi are perfect. one or more volumes, good pace on the romance (not sitting around for 200 chapters cough cough skip beat) and the problems and agsnt they face is much more real than in shoujo. plus like we've all said, two hot guys having sex makes me happy (≧∀≦)
