The latest chapter is a textbook example of narrative cowardice. By attempting to balance the shock value of a violent violation with "lighthearted" rom-com aesthetics, the author has created a total structural collapse of the story's internal logic. Framing Su-ah biting his own hand instead of forcibly bonding Juhyeok is a classic redemption trap, choosing not to commit a secondary crime while currently in the middle of the primary one doesn't earn a character moral points, it just manipulates the reader into centering the predator’s "pain" over the victim’s actual trauma. The revelation that Su-ah administered a pill to an unconscious Juhyeok while claiming he’s "ready to be a dad" is arguably the most predatory development yet, as administering medication to an unconscious victim is an extension of bodily violation, not an act of care. To then pivot immediately to comedic slapstick with chibi panels and "funny" punches is pure narrative gaslighting. It signals that the "dark" parts weren't meant to be taken seriously, effectively erasing the gravity of a scene where a character begged to stop and passed out from trauma. When you use the mechanics of a crime for spice but strip away the consequences because the art is pretty, you aren't being edgy or complex, you’re just being lazy and disrespectful to the weight of the themes you're exploiting.
Imagine calling a literal predator a victim just because his feelings are hurt. Acting like deep feelings justify a violent crime is a wild take. The only reason Juhyeok needs him is because Su-ah has been scenting him against his knowledge since childhood, systematically making him dependent. Juhyeok never promised a romance, he’s a victim of a biological imbalance that Su-ah intentionally exploited for years. Calling an assault questionable logic is an insult to victims in a world where Omegas are already structurally disadvantaged. If you have to lobotomize a character's morality just to ship them, that’s on you, but don't expect the rest of us to ignore a dumpster fire
The tonal whiplash in this chapter is enough to give the entire readership medical-grade concussion. Let’s be real: you can’t drop a scene of violent rape in the actual story and then pivot to posting lovey-dovey fluff art of them on Twitter like nothing happened. That’s not a complex narrative - it’s using a life-shattering crime as a cheap, pornographic hook for clicks before returning to your scheduled programming of forced happy endings. No amount of redemption arc gymnastics is going to bridge the gap between a literal assault and a healthy romance. Once you cross that line for shock value, you’ve officially nuked the character logic. If we have to ignore the actual weight of the trauma just to find the ending cute, then the writing hasn't just failed, it’s checked out entirely. And for the don’t like, don’t read crowd: pointing out a disaster isn't harassment. Harassing authors is trashy, but critiquing their lazy storytelling is just part of the job. Authors aren't victims of their own narrative choices. You can’t have your cake and eat it too, you can't use extreme violence to be edgy while pretending it’s still a sweet love story. It’s not dark, it’s just bottom-tier writing with a pretty filter
I want to be clear: I condemn all personal attacks and the harassment of authors. However, we must distinguish between harassment and valid critique. Critique isn't harassment, and authors need to hear the truth: using sexual assault as porn for profit is a choice that deserves pushback. I don't mind dark horror, but I hate when authors romanticize rape and then hide behind idiotic excuses about „healing”. There is no both sides here - one is a criminal, the other is a victim. To suggest that such a story is about „becoming a better person” is total bullshit. That act destroys every chance of a normal relationship forever. Portraying it as a journey toward a 'cute' romance is twisted, and there’s no coming back from that.
As I’ve said, harassment is never okay, but creators must face feedback—especially when they use sexual assault as nothing more than 'trauma porn' to drive sales. What’s truly exhausting is when authors romanticize these acts and then play the victim when called out. They use rape because it sells, then try to dress it up with pseudo-psychological nonsense about 'shared fault' or 'forgiveness.' It’s a lie. You cannot build a healthy, functional relationship on the ruins of a crime. Trying to frame a literal criminal act as a 'cute' story of redemption isn't just illogical; it’s sick. Some lines, once crossed, leave no way back.
Harassing an author is never okay, but let’s not conflate personal attacks with legitimate criticism of their work. Every creator needs to be open to feedback. It’s hard to stay invested in a story that ignores logic and treats rape as a convenient plot point rather than a traumatic event. I’m exhausted by narratives where sexual assault is brushed off like a simple mistake instead of the gravity it deserves.
Imagine calling this "romance." We have yet another ML who views his partner as an object for his own satisfaction rather than a human being. The fact that this was predictable doesn't make the execution any less vile. The new chapter was a new low.
Props to the author for making every ML candidate a total creep. Nearly every guy in this story is a sexual assaulter … is this just to make the ML look “better”? Ridiculous.
And don't get me started on Seo-in acting all high and mighty about other people's BS when he's a rapist himself. NGL, the hypocrisy never fails to amuse me.
Yall what are we even comparing here. Seo-in is a serial rapist and sexual offender. It’s a fact. He is criminal. No sob back story is gonna change it.
Taegu didn’t do anything at this point. Beside showing up and getting too invested in MC’s life. Also you clearly have no idea what grooming is. We didn’t see one scene that would indicate grooming. Groomers don’t wait 10 years after someone became legal adult to „seduce them”. I’m not a fan of such dynamic at all but Taegu starting to have feelings, for someone he used to know in the past and helped in some way, once that person turned adult (we didn’t see one scene proving otherwise) is definitely less „creepy and abnormal” than federal offence which is rape. Or maybe thoughts are bigger crime than literal rape now? Thoughtcrime…. Orwell is definitely laughing from his grave.
And I don’t even ship MC with any of them.
I seriously can’t with people who see bigger problem with Taegu who never acted (as far as we know) improperly towards Yeongwoon, didn’t even hit on him as far as we know now when MC is a whole ass adult in his mid 20s than with Seo-In who is classified harmful rapist.
And don’t even start with trauma excuse
His presence is foreshadowed through the whole story so far. He is dead but still so very present. I’m probably in some extreme minority but I’m genuinely curious about Han Jaewon’s psychological portrait. The simplest, lazy answer is obvious: he was just some kind of psychopath with narcissistic traits but I hope there is more to it. Of course the level of the toxicity, hatred and harm he presented can’t be explained in any way but I look forward to his story being expanded at least a little bit.
I’m curious about the mother’s role. It’s clear she was such an important figure in the whole situation. How the loss of one twin during pregnancy affected them. Her lost career too. The way she looked at young Seo-In in orphanage gave me chills, there was some madness in that gaze, greed. She also knew how her biological son was, did she do anything about it? Or swept it under the rug? What about the father? And his role in all of it.
It’s clear Han Jaewon saw Seo-In as his replacement. That he is broken, sick and is going to die sooner than later and his parents/mother brought the healthier, better “model” home who is going to replace him one day when he is no longer there. It’s clear that the illness and the appearance of the “better version of himself” made him bitter but it still doesn’t explain the level of coldness and harm he had showed since such a young age.
I hope author is going to develop this thread.
So the question is: why switching/reverse couples are so unpopular in BL world. I know, I know some people are going to accuse me that it’s not true and name the same 20+ titles everyone has reread already at least few times. But what are 30 stories in the ocean of thousands? A drop in the bucket. I can’t name any news switching couples stories......
Grooming is a tactic where someone methodically builds a trusting relationship with a child or young adult, their family, and community to manipulate, coerce, or force the child or young adult to engage in sexual activities.
We didn’t get ANY indignation that anything like that had taken place here.
Simply knowing someone when they were younger and then finding them attractive years later doesn’t equal grooming.
This "lingering perception of the child" is only relevant if you were attracted to them as a child and that is feeding into your attraction to them as an adult.
If you weren't attracted to them as a child but are as an adult, there is nothing wrong and your reaction of being "creeped out" is irrational and unjustified.
I’m not even a fan of the ship or of such dynamic but people are making up bullshit and attacking the others violently and accusing them of disgusting bs when they don’t agree with their made up definitions.
Either people don’t understand what grooming means or they are being purposefully misleading with their comments. Age gap is bigger problem than relationship full of abuse, rape and pure toxicity? Age gap is more problematic and makes you more uncomfortable than rape?
We didn’t see (at this point) Taegu making any move on MC or him acting improperly so what grooming? Mc is an adult man at this point too.
Y’all are reaching now to excuse the fact you drool over your beloved toxic rapists MLs
Massive member and gorgeous, pretty face with big muscular body is perfect combination for readers to forgive anything.
Reminder: saying stop in the middle of sexual encounter (even if the consent had been given beforehand and there had been no agreement on some non con role-play) and other party continuing means sexual assault/rape.
MD is toxic af and has wronged Chanwoo in so many ways, such as disregarding the fact that he had just exited an abusive relationship and asked him to be in a relationship + he literally manipulated Chanwoo into doing sexual acts with that hoe against his will which is literally sexual assault. Chanwoo is mentally and emotionally fragile and had every right to reject MD, but the fact that he retaliated and slapped him for not wanting to kiss the hoe... Yeah, yikes. Down vote this shit all you want im just tired of y'all pretending this relationship is anything but toxic.
Haeyool IS being exploited.
Prostitution is rampant in the South Korean entertainment industry, which has resulted in actors and idols taking their own lives, as they can no longer cope with being raped, sexually exploited usually on the orders of their management. Work place bullying, nepotism and sex work is hardly unheard of in SK, but "sponsorships" are one of those open secrets where basically the wealthy influential men and women are untouchable, and if the actor or idol wants to secure work or pay of the massive debt that is occurred from them trying to debut or maintain their career from their management, then they have limited choice. A wealthy or influential person can provide, but on the grounds that there is a return, which is usually sex.
Never heard about metoo movement and Harvey Weinstein's "casting couch" practices? It all started from the rumours about soliciting sexual favors from a job applicant in exchange for employment that circulated in Hollywood for years.
The practice of soliciting sexual favors from a job applicant in exchange for employment in the entertainment industry, primarily acting roles. The practice is illegal in the States for example.
So saying he is no victim and not being exploited... Is at least questionable.
Every worker who is coerced into sex is automatically a victim and being exploited. It's illegal practice in many countries and it's shocking some people still don't understand it.
People who say that he doesn't act as if he wanted the man out of his life clearly don't understand the reality of SK's industry world. He would be finished in the industry. He would be showed as unreliable client and blacklisted automatically.
We saw ourselves in chapter 19 how the sMitTen uncle/sponsor treated him so well, he just assaulted him casually because he was jealous and would rape him if MC didn't intervene.
On the other hand Seo-in would be a perfect example of nepobaby.
Also can we stop with the shallow view that a victim has to be a perfect saint who doesn't do any wrong to be recognized as one? Cycle of abuse anyone? He was manipulating Yeongwoon to gain sympathy, to get him to like him... no one is pretending otherwise. Still it looks like he is being mistreated and abused too. These two things can coexist perfectly well alongside.
And no one is saying he should end up with MC too.
Or that he won't take a turn for the worse in the future.
The thing that irks me to no end is putting Haeyool and Seo-in - possessive, obsessive sexual offender and stalker (with strong family connections in the industry), someone who is sabotaging someone else's career because he knows that person likes Yeongwoon.... in the same bag. By no means, Haeyool is no saint and he was acting manipulative but to put these two together as if their misdeeds were on the same level is just unfair at least at this point in the story.
Not sure how the sponsor abusing Hae-yool is a lie. We literally saw the sponsor being abusive out of jealousy. It wasn't staged, he wasn't onto whatever plan. He was genuinely aggressive and forceful. It's not a lie and I doubt it was the first time. How did Hae-yool plan he was going to get assaulted (how could he plan that Seo-in would follow him and sponsor bump into them at perfect timing???) and how could he plan Yeongwoon to magically arrive in the middle of the assault, he didn't notify him in any way, he genuinely looked angry in that scene, we saw his thoughts ....?
He lied about the reason he was being assaulted but it's not a lie he was assaulted. He only used the assault part in his advantage but the assault was real.
Dedication to all delulu users who believe that Seo Hae-yool's actions and behaviour are comparable or worse than these of waste of human being called Han Seo-in.
I see the old, famous theme for BL:
"Create dominant toxic predator seme and draw him so beautiful so that girls drool over him and forget that he's a toxic peice of sh1t seme" will neeeever get old.
