The only story that won’t make you lift your eyebrows and think what the fuck is truly ghost-be-gone, it’s so tame compared to the others. If you feel traumatized from any of the other stories go read/go back to ghost-be-gone. The exorcism story isn’t that bad either I guess but the ML can be a bit questionable. While I did enjoy reading the story collection in general, I can’t say that I’m not scarred… especially after emotion.

I just finished reading the novel so here are some overall spoilers if you want to see if the manhwa is something for you. I personally thought it was great btw. The novel did have some flaws but don’t let that stop you from reading it.

1. There is no rape in this story between the mc and the ml, but there is a sex scene where Yohan doesn’t outright consent. Hyunmook was NOT his normal self at that time (he was VERY corrupted) and Yohan didn’t even register that it was him (they were basically “inside” of hyunmook). They are overall a really cute couple who find great comfort in each other.
2. The story will feel a bit slow at the start until the “flood” comes into the picture. The flood is a phenomenon that corrupts and kills everything it comes in contact with. We later find out that the reason why Hyunmook is so badly corrupted is due to the flood, he’s been in it.
3. Yohan and Hyunmook will flee from the first place we see them staying at (the Korean part of the abyss) because of the flood. After that they’ll go to the subway station where Hyunmook fights a monster and ends up losing one of his limbs. Due to the life threatening situation, Yohan awakens as a high-level purifier and helps Hyunmook regenerate after the fight. Hyunmook then realizes why Yohan hasn’t been corrupted so far (he’s a purifier).
4. We later learn in the story that each of the corrupted sunrise members suffer from a negative enhancement. Those enhancements come from personality treats. Seo Yakrin for example has a short temper, that personality trait gets amplified whenever her corruption level increases making her very angry and hard to deal with. Hyunmook has the enhancement to “never give up”, which doesn’t sound bad but if you think about their situation he literally kept the sunrise team members alive just for them to get tortured by being in the abyss.
- After that a few things happened that I lowkey don’t remember much of, I remember that Hyunmook got his weapon back and that the two of them started to look for the sunrise team’s old members which is vital to the plot so I’ll briefly go over each member.
[YOON SEUNGRYONG] - Used to be a centipede, characterized as someone who’s lazy and gluttonous. His transformation was probably one of the worst things but I love his character, he is so caring and treats Yohan like a little baby. He is very caring and gives delinquent vibes but he is also really lazy. His main power is poison but he also has a secondary power where he stores things in a secret “pocket” (if you guys know fate it’s kinda like Gilgamesh treasure storage). His negative enhancement is laziness and gluttony.
[JU HOYOUNG] - Used to be a blue “Ghost”-like entity. He never actually made contact with the flood so he was the least corrupted out of the whole team. He’s your average 21 year old (he was 18 when he fell into the abyss), he loves to game and has an anime obsession. He’s always with his console and may come off as insignificant, but he’s really sweet and treats Yohan like his younger brother. His negative enhancement is his obsession with collecting figurines.
[SEO YAKRIN] - Used to be a bird. She is giving major older sister vibes in the best way possible, she also has feud with Seungryong. She is overly protective when it comes to Yohan and honestly babies him but in the best way possible. Her negative enhancement is her temper.
[LEE CHANHA] - Used to be a huge entity the salt lake. He would use his hallucination powers to make it seem like he’s beautiful when he really wasn’t. Hyunmook actually declared him dead because he on multiple occasions lied to the team members and led them into the flood. That happened because he was obsessed with the flood.
His negative enhancement is cleanliness, and he fr started to view the flood as something clean and therefore something to worship. In the story someone also says he has OCD but I’m not sure if he actually does or if it’s an exaggeration.
- The team will come back to earth after a bunch of life threatening experiences where Yohan, purifying the area they’re in, guarantees that the abyss rejects them and therefore “spits” them back out.
- Afterwards a revenge arc will start. In this arc the team members are back on earth enjoying the life they’ve missed out on during their imprisonment in the abyss. Park Seungmin, the guy who pushed Yohan into the abyss, is a key part of this arc along with Go Jaewon, who is the last member of the sunrise team and who backstabbed them in order to gain more power. In this part of the story there will also be more intimate scenes between Yohan and Hyunmook so look forward to that! They are insanely cute.
- At the “final boss” mission, the government will threaten Yohan’s life. It is here revealed that Hyunmook’s “corruption form” is a shadow that swallows people and takes care of or punishes them. The team goes into Hyunmook and convinces him that he’s human, which solves the situation. The story ended quite shortly after that with an open ending where Hyunmook finally gets his revenge.

I probably missed a bunch of major events but if I mentioned it all, my comment would be insanely long. If you guys have any questions feel free to ask and I’ll try my best to answer them.

netkama punch is genuinely my no.1 manhwa ever and whenever I look at them I JUST THINK OF HEEJAE AND SEYEONG. ITS ESP YOOJEONG WHO REMINDS ME OF HEEJAE (he’s just less aggressive than heejae is? at least so far.) I feel like a husband seeing someone who resembles my dead wife. I’m so sad but also so invested. I really hope this story will be worth the reading experience (▰˘◡˘▰)

some people might dislike this story but I lowk fw the yearning and sexual tension that comes with their miscommunication. the angst is also really something I like, does anyone have recs similar to their angst?
