All characters are good imo, feelings cant be changed and they are all different individuals. Romance/relationship between the MC and the friend wouldn't have worked. MC saw him as a friend only, his closest friend. Feelings would of never occurred between them.

Why did the MC lose a backbone? Chapter 37 finds out ML has been lying to him and just allows himself get dragged into sex again?? Waste of a read icl. Dont bother, it's just sex and manipulation.
