I've heard the ending of the novel sucked too, so this one might've been doomed from the start.

The rushed endings plague so many good stories, but I feel like it's usually because the artist/author aren't the ones to make the decision about when the series ends. They might have a whole season planned out and then the publisher is like "haha oops we're dropping this" and they have like 2 chapters to wrap things up. It drives me nuts but it must be incredibly frustrating for the creators.

So when the bug fixed and game restarted for him, he started as his intended original body, as a game character

It's not an au, it's their literal backstory when Flynn lost Andrea. ML is first year in middle school here so 11 or 13 years old and now as Hugo he's close to 30years Old so I think although the ML (look the same in our eyes), him and MC still spent 10 or more so years apart so Flynn's image of him might not be as clear (?) and ML also got beefy and rude (?) Flynn admits ML personality is a total dick compare to how he was before (he just hides them) so he didn't think of it. And who would have thought his orphan brother will be a Chaebol? Anyways, I still find it long winded how it took this long. And how is Flynn doesn't have one single photo with Hugo as a kid? That would totally cut all this conflict. Anyways, I'm still enjoying this because the art is really good and it's not that bad.

By the looks of chapter 10 its more of a trauma caused by, perhaps a crush from the flashes of his past. the fallout.
Seems to come from a incident...sometimes they use a trauma created rather than the ex-partner. Even if they appear again, its only to facilitate growth and the chance to overcome it. I dont think a ex or new lover will come.

To be an onstacle, rather it could lead to a regression before he has that cathartic healing moment
