There's even things like deaf only communities worldwide !! It also may come from culture in Japan being very polite+ non confrontational. There would be a interesting play between relationships esp romantic. For example a deaf/hard of hearing person may not realize it when they are making A LOT of sound like being super loud or speaking loudly. It's understandable but they may think it's inconvenient for a hearing person. But that's some thing that a hearing person can take into consideration before dating a deaf/hearing impaired person. That's just one of the multiple examples I can mention ! It's important also how lifestyle impacts the relationship.
