I feel like some people in the comments lack empathy and understanding for Garam. As a lesbian myself who had my first girlfriend openly when I was 16, I've always said fuck you to homophobia, especially since in the UK at the time it felt like homophobia was on the decline. But now I'm 24 and homophobia is on the rise again, and now I think twice before holding my girlfriend's hand in public. I don't want us, especially her, getting attacked. I still hold her hand and show her affection in public because I will not let anyone diminish me, but I understand why Garam is scared, especially as even the UK people are being physically attacked and even murdered for being a part of the LGBTQ+ community and South Korea is less tolerant than here. Also, since he has been through severe homophobia that caused trauma, it must be even harder for him. Coming out was the scariest thing I had to do, and I was surrounded by supportive people. I think Jaehyuk would benefit from having a gentler approach and trying to have another conversation asking him why he doesn't want to come out and the reasoning for it. He should try to understand Garam so he can help them both move forward and start slowly coming out. Although Garam definitely needs therapy to get past this, and it's not Jaehyuk's responsibility to help him, I know he would want too though. I just wanted to write this in the hopes that some people in the comments might think twice about their opinions on Garam and this is coming from someone who is more like Jaehyuk when it comes to not caring what people think about you.
Girl I'm a lesbian too in a VERY conservative country where I can't even support LGBTQ people much less come out. I think what Garam did was just blatant disregard for his bf. YOU SHOULD TELL YOUR BF ABOUT YOUR FUCKING BDAY. Then when he got the gift, instead of being happy he started a fight. And now he has just left him without talking out their problems. I swear this is just genuine disregarding behaviour where he just doesn't consider Jaehyuk to even be in the relationship. He'll just do whatever the fuck he wants and blame it on being scared of homophobia. Bro nobody's forcing you to stop talking to your bf because of homophobia rn.

Agreed. Especially when the narrative of the story has already established how much their relationship has evolved, how much different and better jaehyuk is as compared to his garam's ex and other people around him, and how much effort he put trying to meet garam's needs even though he started as a homophobic straight dude. But garam has been stuck in limbo for so long, it's getting on my nerves, it's like nothing seme does is good enough, and garam would rather hurt his feelings than work on his insecurities. The writing has definitely gone downhill, the writer is just stretching the story unnecessarily trying to rehash the same stuff over and over again.

same tbh; i understand garam being traumatized because of his past experiences, and afraid of coming out, and jaehyuk should absolutely not be outing him or their relationship without discussing it with garam first, but garam is making so many assumptions about jaehyuk's motivations and feelings. why does he just decide that jaehyuk won't listen to him if he tries to EXPLAIN why he's so traumatized? (it's not like he's ever tried it before, how would he know.) yeah, jaehyuk is new to the experience of being in a gay relationship in a conservative culture, so he's never dealt with any backlash, and he's a lot more brazen and carefree in general than garam, but if garam sat him down and told him, ideally without shouting or getting defensive, why this is so important to him, i genuinely think jaehyuk would listen and take him seriously.

I agree he should of told Jaehyuk about his birthday and should of tried to talk to him about his problems. This post was just about him not wanting to come out as being in a relationship with Jaehyuk yet. They both need to have a proper constructive conversation and Garam does need to be open about his feelings with Jaehyuk.

I agree Garam is making assumptions and does need to open up and be honest about his feeling with Jaehyuk. If they both had a constructive conversation without getting angry like you said I think it would go a long way. I mainly wrote this post to say I understand why Garam wouldn't want to come out and why he would be hurt with Jaehyuk outing them without his consent. But I 100% agree Garam does need to open up if be honest with Jaehyuk and I don't agree with all of his actions but I have empathy for him and can understand some of his reasoning

Yesss that is true 100% agree about the coming out part. Nobody should force anyone to come out regardless of if they have trauma or not. It is just not your decision.
But honestly speaking now this is just my pov but the author almost always seems to purposefully make Jaehyuk mess up whenever Garam does something wrong. Like she always wants Jaehyuk to apologise first and just forget about Garam's mistakes.
