I forgot the name but the story was in a doctor/researcher setting. His research is about bio intelligent life forms (if I'm not wrong). One of the liquid (looked like a purple slime) he researched have a mind on its own. That liquid had contact with his body and he got this Ai system. Everytime he overuse it, a part of his emotion is gone, slowly making him emotionless.
Last scene I remember: he's making a cure for cancer, demonstrating it live to reassure public, that the cure is safe and works by injecting the cancer cell in him then administering the cure. Had a lot of lab stuffs there

the story is the kinda mercenary? son that helps around the inn , then there’s a hero already done with wars and just visiting the inn for the night. When the hero saw the son, they got together cause the inn son are hero’s childhood friend reincarnation who saved him by pretending to be the hero to kill the demon while the hero devastated cause he died protecting him.
The hero’s fake name is his childhood friends name
