I think the only thing saved this BL was its artstyle. Nothing else. If you just imagine this same story with mid level art style then it'll be a disaster! This artstyle was wasted on something like this.

I hate cliche storie line. But right now I want nothing but dan's memories of them to be gone. It'd be fun.
This adaptation don't do justice to the novel. It feels rushed. You can't understand graysons motives and thought process from this. It's killing me as a novel reader.
