People who don’t except Brian=Ian are really wired. You shouldn’t even had read season 1 till the end (since we knew Ian is reincarnation). Stories with love interest being reborn NEVER separates this character in two, it’s either Ian regains memory or it’s doesn’t matter cause he is Brian anyway. Ehh remember when writing was good, and even amazing in 1st season. For me, Sys&Randolph were always huge red flag since first introduction as “ship” that things will go south.
