this story is good and i adore their romance but the rape scene was so? unnecessary? and graphic?

Maybe the rape scene was too far. However, in my opinion, I believe it allowed an ending towards Jihyuk and Hyesung relationship. It was a very toxic one, and to leave it at the grave scene didn’t seem to fit well. Especially with all the things Jihyuk did, he definitely deserved to be locked up. I believe if the author took a more settle route, I highly doubt it will set a punishment that Jihyuk deserved. Including Jihyuk’s character to take things to the extreme. I don’t believe he would’ve just accepted Hyesung moving, or just simply beat him to a pulp.
to say it wouldn’t suit his character to simply beat him to a pulp so raping was the better alternative is just odd. there are countless other ways for jihyuk to vent his anger out on hyesung and for it to make sense and reach the same conclusion. the author literally never delved deep into the feelings that jihyuk had for hyesung so we literally don’t know why this mf felt the need to make their relationship sexual. did he have a crush and was jealous? is this homophobia taken to the extreme? literally what was jihyuk thinking? and also let’s say the rape scene works. literally WHY make it so graphic? you could have just implied it without drawing every little detail and it would have still worked. i just feel like it wasn’t necessary at all
I’m just being open about my opinion. I mean, we know that he raped Hyesung for years. Which is probably why he did it again, maybe to show that he couldn’t escape it. Especially since Hyesung tried to commit suicide from the abuse. To be honest, I don’t understand why Jihyuk chose rape either. I’m glad you pointed that out. We won’t fully understand why Jihyuk is the way he is, maybe he had a brother complex? He definitely knew that Hyesung liked him. Again, not quite sure. I agree with the fact the author necessarily didn’t develop any thing among it, other than the fact it had smth to do with the brother. Personally, let’s just both agree that it didn’t sexualize rape, because of how often authors tend to do that in BL. Also, I just like to start discussions, sorry if I bothered you.
