Idk what part you are at, but I felt the same as for the first couple chapters so I skipped forward, decided I liked his needy, desperate ass and went back to read through him being a little bitch. It gets betterish...at least he has some growth!

I just kinda get his perspective, and their fight during high school is so unreasonable, the dude is just wishing them well.

In main story yes, in first side story not really. Prince was dead the entire time and his soul was original one, not reincarnation while shaman was reincarnation which means his soul already exists in past. His past self was trying to overcome his present self, so he can be with a prince which at the end happened. I'm very bad at explaining things, I'm sorry ༎‿༎
But the point is they suffered the tragedy once again because prince wasn't reincarnated but shaman was and shaman's oast self overtook him so he essentially didn't really died, just disappeared if that makes any sense. That's why he thought he was dreaming/sleepwalking and waking up at strange places all the time. Meanwhile he wasn't dreaming, but his past self was trying to take over. It's really hard to understand, I had to reread carefully to be able to catch what's going on.

Joohwan and the Messenger are two separate souls in one body. Because the Messenger couldn't get this wish in his past life, Joohwan could not be happy. The messenger is in love with the King and wished to be with him. So whenever Joohwan was sleeping, the Messenger went to look for the King. It was not the King haunting Joohwan, it was the Messenger (aka "haunted by desire"). At the end, the Messenger part of Joohwan's soul split from his body and fused with the King's spirit (hence he said "I'll give myself over to you. So give yourself over to me"). Their souls are now sealed together in the Shaman's bell. In a sense it's a happy ending because both the King and the Messenger got their wishes granted to be together forever. But it's self destructive, almost like Romeo Juliet ending. As for Joohwan it's an open ending. Did he die or the remaining of his soul lived on and now he can be happy because the Messenger got his wish? I don't think the rest of the people died, they were just sleeping. The King was just shown to be killing all other ghosts/spirits to keep them from Joohwan which explains why he hadn't seen any ghosts since the King left.
