Yandere level-wise actually Ilay isn't really THAT harsh. I've known worst and the worst thing Ilay did was rape, but he still makes sure Tae feels pleasure. Ilay even probably thinks that's supposed to be romantic
It's just that we all soft for Tae. And looking back Tae's crying really brings down the tolerance level for the readers cause we always picture him as strong minded. In the end he's just a human and he is actually very fragile despite he tough demeanor
With that said their relationship really has a loooong way to go. Both is prideful and unlike a certain someone I know, who'll prefer to act like a dog and quietly follow their lover(Zhenya), Ilay is still too controlling. Heard it takes him 2 more sequels to fix his shit

Richard, who is on the same bastard levels as Ilay, goes through a disgustingly pathetic, regretful, self-hating arc (because Richard has humanity, unlike Ilay who was born without it). And Chris being slightly crazy made Rihakri so much more exciting for me; he'll literally try to kill Richard, more than once
(but Xinyuri will always be my favourite cause their dynamic has all the tropes I adore and Yuri Gable > than everyone).
Anyways about Iltae -
Ilay will get better but it's genuinely nothing glorious (no chasing/redemption/regret/yearning arc). It kind of just happens as they live their lives together and the plot moves along. And they'll share plenty of cute moments if that's what you're waiting on.
It also takes them years to even label their relationship; keep in mind there's even a time skip between Passion and DS. And yes, there is still dubcon between Iltae in DS and Ilay will still be on his bullshit occasionally; and no, he won't ever apologise (I don't even think they talked about the things he's done). Ilay will always be Ilay, Taeui accepts and accommodates and loves him despite of this, and in return Ilay will love him with his messed up version of devotion. But the "best version" of Ilay is in the sequel to DS, passion: suite.
Yeah they did say Ilay's best version is in Suite. I was so close to jumping blind, but I gotta run thru DS if I want to understand the plot. But the way you phrase the new couple's dynamic made me kinda interested. I loove enemies to lovers trope.
