So..the raws on MangaMint are really weird. I like how it jumps from Japanese to Chinese and the change in quality. I'll try to provide a quick translation/spoiler once I have time.

What do you guys think happened at the end? Suicide or accident?
In my perspective, I think he did kill himself. At the end where he smiled, it killed me so much inside. My thoughts are that he killed himself because there were no more boarders between them and their relationship. He thinks that he achieved the happiness he always wanted and hid, and wanted to end it that way. He probably knew that if something didn't change, society wouldn't look at them the same. I don't know how to quite explain it, but yea. (AND CAN WE JUST LOOK BACK TO WHERE THAT homeless man went "I knew it would turn out this way?" The powers of foreshadowing has never been so strong.)
The expression he had before he got hit by the truck just struck me in the chest so hard. At that point, I just went "Oh my god."
I think what I'm trying to say is that it portrays the thought of "dying while being in true happiness," and his expression expressed it so much. That look of "I love you." MAY SOUND CHEESY BUT HEY. No more regrets, no more burden. Only the fact that everything's now okay.
I don't know. His expression just spoke so much, but can't be explained.

Yes he commited suicide. It's what's very sad about it. He obviously thought everything through even writing a suicide note and leaving a will for Takezou. :'( I still cant get over it. He finally admitted he loves Takezou but it's too late. T.T sniffssniffs

Actually, he didn't write a suicide note. He wrote a note, but it wasn't indicating anything and then he wrote that letter to his wife. He actually didn't admit that he loves Takezou, and Takezou only found out after his death when he received the letter.
suicide definitely - takezous anguish over it as he converses too (page 33 is the strongest indicator) as well as shinobus smile. Not to mention the slow step in front of the truck. Knowing his instability all long as well I find it hard to believe that, with someone like nakamura asumiko behind the writing, his death would end up so indiscriminate and with such seemingly odd timing.
and on all accounts i completely agree with what youre saying. the ending was so, so heartbreaking and i couldnt stop crying and rereading the last chapter as i tried to reason with shinobus intent and movements throughout the pages. i didnt think id end up so hurt by the end ;--;;
The first time I read this, I was crushed and I was down for the next few days. Since I have been following Nakamura's work, especially this and Copernicus, this was a huge blow to me. I probably read this manga 10 or more times.
The thing that makes it so enticing is the development you get to witness through the chapters and how it actually ended. When I first began this manga, I thought that they would end up together. Having fought through their differences and hardships. I would have never expected something like this. Nevertheless, this is one of my favorite mangas of all time.
Yeah that's why it's too late because he already admitted to himself that he loves him but never gave himself a chance to confess to takezou. That note can also be described as suicide note actually because he knew exactly what he's about to do after that. He repeatedly say it will be their last time/moment.
i agree especially because shinobu keeps mentioning the last time. He was so dead set on it from the start and as things kept unfolding I think he felt it was appropriate to end everything on a good (?) note

Here is a summary of WHY Kuze made Kusakabe have sex with Azusa. Please read if you don't get it so you don't misunderstand. (SPOILERS.)

In the beginning when Kuze made Kusakabe see Karino and Azusa have sex, Kusakabe tried to tell the teacher on them after. He told Kuze "I can not just sit back." (This is probably because of the earlier conversation Azusa and Kusakabe had on the roof.) Then, of course, Karino comes up to them and says to Kusakabe "Letting the position of Jack get to your head to protect the princess(Azusa), you're really getting big headed. (To Kusakabe.) It turns out that Jack has a good relationship (with Azusa) and share the same goals. (To Kuze.)"
Since Karino is the king, he tells Kuze to grab a hold of Kusakabe and he has to listen. After Kuze grabs a hold of Kusakabe, Kuze asks him "Why have you not told me the things between you and Azusa?"
After that, Kuze told Kusakabe "You should receive punishment." (Kuze was jealous or mad that he did not know of their relationship since Kusakabe always attaches himself to Kuze.)
Before Kusakabe and Azusa started to have sex, he is saying to him "I'm sorry, I will not be/get better than anyone/I will not get ahead of myself , I'm sorry." He apologizes to Azusa because he thinks he is at fault on why this started in the first place. (Refer back to dialog with Karino.)
Azusa replies to him with "A little thing like this is nothing to mind."
(Then they have sex.)
After Kusakabe and Azusa finished with their little thing and Kuze hugs Kusakabe, he tells him "I will not give you to anyone."
At the end, the dialog is Kusakabe saying "My feelings are all messed up."
I hope this helps clear and misunderstandings. I'll try to explain more if someone still does not get it.

Karino x Azusa does not have sex with each other when Kusakabe and Kuze was doing it. It was Kuze > Kusakabe > Azusa.

lol both Kuze and Karino are very jealous and overpossessive. Can we get back to Karino/Azusa because I am still very curious about Karino's obsession with Azusa. I don't think him being a virgin before doing it with Azusa was a joke either. That always struck me as how obsessive he must be over Azusa.

I think Kuze don't mind Kusakabe having sex with Azusa because what really matters to him are Kusakabe's feelings, not his body, so to speak. And that's what really annoyed him and made him agree with all this thing: Kusakabe getting closer to Azusa and trying to protect him.

After reading the Chinese raws, I no longer know anyone's names in this manga.
Someones name was 久世君(JiuShi Jun) but in Japanese it's Kuze-kun. In my mind = "The hell is Kuze." Never mind that though.
Anyways,
the thing about this chapter is that there are a lot of foreshadowing included, which you need to be able to read to be able to understand it.
What bothered me the most was the ending where Karino and Azusa started to do their thing. When Kusakabe asked Kuze why he did that, Kuze replied with "Because I don't want to give you to anyone."
I mean. The hell.
HOW IS THAT "NOT GIVING YOU TO ANYONE."
After that, the last sentence was Kusakabe saying "(All) My feelings are messed up."

First of all thanks for the explanation as I don't read Chinese. I think kusakabe might like azusa whether in friend way or something else. That's why he said his feeling all messed up? It might be that because kuze want kusakabe not befriend with azusa (or fall for him) kuze showed him the scene of karino x azusa

So I read what happened in the comments and decided to take this manga up and read it.
The first chapter I actually enjoyed. Then I moved onto reading the raws.
The thing is, I really liked how the characters are designed out to be and their past etc etc, but the plot was quite weak so I was a bit disappointed.
A lot of people may disagree with me, but I just think that the plot was too rushed.
First of all, I would like to say that it is 100% not okay to abuse someone for any reason they may have. It just feels like...the mangaka skipped so many parts in explaining Kan and Yumi. I would have liked to know a little bit more on Kan and Yumi's part.
A little insight on the raws: All about Mayama and Yumi. Yw.
On a site note, I'm not bashing on this manga at all, I just wished there was a little more to it.
At this point I would usually give a summary on the raws, but since it is already provided by someone in page 2, enjoy.
Yeah :O I want to know Kan and Yumi's past too. I'm pretty sure something happened to provoke Kan to make awful choices, but at the same time sort of understandable why he became abusive.
