As someone who's already pretty desensitized to shota looking characters from having started out with jp bls, the bottom's character design here is still a bit jarring to me. He genuinely looks like the baby from How to Snag an Alpha, just in a different color scheme. I don't know why the author decided to go with this specific art direction??? That said, I do get why this specific discourse is blowing up in social media. While many of us BL readers would have more tolerance with this kind of character design, for casuals it does look borderline pedophilic.
Maybe it’s just me, but I’ve never really seen unrequited love as something someone should be owed out of. No one is obligated to return your feelings just because you have them and you're hurting. I feel bad that hyung's soul is trapped in the mountain, but when it comes to everything that happened before that there was so much more that could have been done, and that burden wasn't just Geonpil's to carry either. It takes two to make a relationship work, and if it doesn't, it shouldn't be the end of the world.
Geonpil and hyung were simply just the wrong people for each other. Geonpil needed someone who was straightforward and clear about their intentions because his upbringing left him lacking in emotional maturity. And hyung needed someone who was emotionally perceptive and willing to take the lead, given his more anxious and insecure nature. In the end, Beom's presence proves that Geonpil isn't incapable of loving. Hyung just wasn’t the right person for him, just as Geonpil wasn’t the right person for hyung.

I know we're doing it for the laughs, but i kinda feel off about some people overly antagonizing Heejae on twitter. It feels like his whole character is being reduced to this typical asshole ML in just about every other sloppy BL, effectively depriving him of every nuance the author has given him over 200 chapters. I know it's something that comes with a work becoming popular, but I already miss how the fandom used to be. We went from writing thinkpieces and treating NME like a museum exhibit, to being completely brainrotted with overly sarcastic posts especially those tartgeted towards Heejae. Don't get me wrong cause I love me some laughs, but some posts are starting to feel less playful and more like they're genuinely treating Heejae as nothing but an asshole. Most of the time, it makes me question whether they actually understand the story at all.
Obviously the author clowns Heejae too, and it's not like I can speak for how they feel about it, but as a writer myself, I think I'd be dissapointed if all the nuance I've spent years building into this character get completely lost simply because making Heejae the butt of every joke seems to have become the easiest way to get likes and hit tweets on Twitter.

I hate that Mokyeon regressed into a literal child. Is it really so difficult to write a compelling redemption arc while keeping some semblance of who the character was in Season 1? He doesn't need to be exactly the same, but there should at least be some continuity in his personality. The author did so well opening this season with such a heavy backstory which contextualized a lot of Mokyeon's actions in season 1. I really thought it was setting up a much more interesting direction for his character, but instead of exploring all that complexity, Mokyeon got reduced into this borderline suicidal crybaby just so that Nanjo would have to look at him. It feels like the author took the easy route of making him pathetic enough to sympathize with and forgive, as if readers couldn't make sense of him without having his character simplified for us.
Did anyone else see Willem Dafoe's recent photoshoot? I feel like heejae could do that if he tried hard enough. Wish someone would darw him like that lol
