anyways, wow i realized ive been reading so much rofan isekai slop that this story was a huge palette cleanser. like no magic bullshit? no past life cheat memories? a brunet, brown-eyed fmc WITH FRECKLES? disability rep (well ig)? other noble titles used that isnt the duke or prince? and AN ACTUAL SOLID PLOT? man i need to find more of these

i have alot of praises for this so far and the one thing i really like is how the fmc is the one thats scaring the male lead this time (albeit unintentionally lol)and the stoic(!) male lead is the one trying to appease her to not get on her bad side.... villainess manhwas always had the fmc sucking up to the scary bloodthirsty murderous tyrant mmc so its nice to see a flip to that dynamic, with a strong stoic love interest too
im obsessed knowing that rose (rogers) put this curse in the first place was because he fell inlove with the first head's brother, edgar. like its definently not uncommon for a tragic romance to be the origin of every curse or legend but for it to happen between two male (well Technically, since rose IS male presenting) characters blew me away. like the story is already amazing itself but that factor really blew me away, its truly unprecedented. i guess ive been reading so much slop manwhas that seeing a mlm (or nblm) be an integral part of the lore (and as smth not as a joke) seriously impressed me.
the story is coming to its end and its safe to say this is genuinely the best historical manwha ive read. from chapters 1 to now i was locked in reading. the plot didnt drag or add unnecessary plotpoints, it had a STORY to tell and they did so amazingly. i cant wait to see how it ends
He didn’t fall in love with the previous one, he got obsessed with the fact he wasn’t chosen. He is a psychopath, he cannot understand love. If he actually love the ancestor, he would have never do this to his family. It was just his selfish desire to be chosen. He wanted the MC to choose him.

i like this manwha and i like how it handled various topics that i NEVER see in other historical manwhas (and even seeing tanned characters) but one thing i really dont like is the romance, especially the implication that she'll be pushed back into the political sphere if she ends with crown prince, when it literally goes against everything she wants and the premise of the manwha :/ like unless hes gonna give up his title (which i highly doubt) or something, im not liking the direction the romance iz going
i hope she ends up exiting the game in the end or something lmao sorry i need a bittersweet ending
i seriously appreciate the webtoon sticking to its main theme of the daughter and father relationship and it ending that way. i also appreciate not seeing a timeskip family which alot of webtoons/manwhas end with
im ngl the best part of the epilogue was og edith and rhyse's ending. extremely bittersweet but atleast they found comfort with one another in their deaths, not their love interests but through a sisterhood (or yuri, im okay with either)
this term gets watered down alot but i just want to say it, this is genuinely a good deconstruction of the villainess isekai manwha trope .
the villainess aiming to die instead of trying to avoid her death unlike all the other villainess, her the ‘love interests’ being rightfully criticized but still portrayed as extremely flawed individuals without making them overly evil or overly sympathetic (and also subverting the fact her actual love interest is just a simple knight instead of the most powerful guy in the harem), the og fl actually having a firm character development, heavy topics like depression/suicidal ideation being tackled in a okayish manner…..
honestly im probably missing alot more of what this manwha subverts (which makes i wish thered be a youtuber to analyze or review this series). but yeah this was such a good deconstruction of this trope. and also, amazing art!! and im so glad it didnt go on longer than necessary, it had a clear story to tell and was able to reach till the end

ive read some novel spoilers, but so far the cardinal hasnt displayed any of the behavior other than being antagonistic. do yall think the manhwa would even go that direction (if u catch my drift)? will it even be relevant or does taking that subplot out even make a difference. idk just preparing myself lol
