It's a progression of their 'jinx' partnership. Something happened with Jiyu that put her on edge, leaving her with no choice but to ask Hunter about that favour. All the while she and Hunter were having misunderstandings as well. Is this too vague? lol I don't want to spoil so much because the build up was really good, leading to that scene in chapter 1.
