This story confuses me a bit. We spent a major portion of this manhwa reading the story in Caidel's perspective. And the impression I got was that he really is a good person. If the story suddenly makes him into a bad person, it just wouldn't makes sense. I would understand if he was a character where we never got to hear his inner thoughts, but only from someone else's perspective. But we were able to hear a lot of Caidel's thoughts. And how can you deceive someone in their own head. It doesn't make sense. So I hope the author doesn't makes Caidel evil somehow.
Also when Noah asks Eleanor whether she doesn't know Caidel's true identity, does he mean the fact that he is the son of her master?
I'm also a bit confused about the fire that was caused by Eleanor and the fire at the Earl's home. Were they in the same area? Or were they two separate incidents. Because if it were the same incident, that occured because of the contract, how were some lives spared while others were not. Should it not have taken every life?
I'm on chapter 38, and I don't understand why the fl is so dumb. Like why doesn't she think about any of the consequences to her actions. She fricking released a prisoner that attempted to assassinate the pharaoh, not regarding who he might be or the fact that the warden might get in trouble because of it (Apparently his tongue and tendons were cut and hanged on the side of a cliff. She did that to him). Then she uses technology that are thousands of years advanced. That could have changed history as we know it, possibly of the entire world.
I think this is a great concept. And I personally love ancient Egypt. But the story is flawed. I think for someone as intelligent as the fl in this story, who have studied history and knows the effects of one small action, she is acting way too dumb.
I'm a bit confused because her past life was in the future or at least a modern era right. But she is also some type of goddess who have lost her memories, but also has a memory of seeing Kaleid in the past. The only possible conclusion that I can think of is that, the Leylin we see now is the soul of the girl who died in the modern era. And the body, although right now, is the daughter of a count, in the past was a goddess. And something happened to that goddess, and she lost her memories, and possibly died. When the soul of the girl in the modern era entered the body, she got the memories of the body as the daughter of the count, and is now slowly getting the memories of her as a goddess.
Hmm the way i understand it is that the gods transported rinrin soul to somehow help them with del or whatnots, seeing how rinrin is important to them and the hints that bella is giving especially the conversation that rinrin forgot, also take notice that bella said rinrin soul is special or more like she is special is a way.
I understand what she is doing is for the empire, but the more I read this, the more I dislike her character. She is definitely strong so that's not the problem. The problem is she believes she has to create secrets and and use others for the sake of survival. Making the duke emperor like that is exactly how she did with her brother in her previous life. Its not how thing should be done.
I disagree, she has to do it for the duke so he become the emperor instead if they fuck up other people that will want the power. and in order to get it SOMEONE has to dirty their hands, just like any great politician that by the way succeed.
yeas in those power struggle you to dirty your hands, you can't stay pure to get something, you have to work for it!
and that what she do, she do what she believe will save him this time. true she isn't using good methods, but that her way of doing and her brother the prince is worse! fuck this dude, he should die and go to hell
I agree she also does it for the sake of the kingdom but that not her only reason. she also doing it for the duke too, cause she see him has the best emperor that deserves the crown and power unlike the others, corrupt people, around - and she is right, he is the best for the people and he is pure.
people love power and they will do anything to get it, especially corrupt assholes like her brother.
I understand what you mean. And tbh in the world they live in, someone has to
take that role. Which is sad. I just wish she didn't do it, is what I meant and why I don't agree with her. And I know because of the duke's kind hearted personality, he will be sad when he finds out how he got the throne. Taking any life or using others is wrong, even if its for the sake of many lives. Because they have being sacrificed without a choice.
But I mean if you look at it on the other hand, her dirtying her hands and stooping down to their level is just continuing this endless cycle of murders and blood shed. No matter what your cause is, if you take a life, you are just as bad as anyone else who took a life or caused others harm. And choosing this path will never end with it stopping there because everyone eventually resorts to such action for the "greater good". If it was me, even if I fail, I would try to do things the right. So I want bring harm to others
has much has I agree with you, I also see why she becomes the way she is. that how she knows how to live, she doesn't know any other way and people don't change after a night. people don't change even after a year, change is hard but I'm sure she will change. has for her taking lives, from what we see this far she only taking the lives she really has too and most of those people she knows for sure are evil anyway and will murder others in the future so...well take it how you want.
not if the "pure" duke will stop all the corruption from its roots and he will totally will. has I said, you can't take the crown without dirty your hands, has sad has it is, you need to work to get power. that how politics works XD
and she aware of it that she most of the chance will die again, and she does not seem to care if the duke will be the emperor. so I guess you get some and lose some, she is ready to pay this price to help the duke and the country. but from the cliche comic that it most of the chance will be, she won't die or pay anything despite what she did, that only what I feel will happen in the end ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭
I dunno. male characters like her exist. even bigger emotionless assholes like Sherlock from BBC and we love him for it. It feels like a breath of fresh air for me from the usual quirky FL that gets everything she wants just by being slightly different due to isekai. Furthermore, she does it for the greater good in mind now, knowing that the country would suffer if her bro got the throne so I understand her for it unlike in similar stories like Villainess turns the hourglass... where it doesnt make sense why she wants to repeat her life as an evil girl again with no good cause. Im following this story not as a romance, but more like an atonement story, where Tia uses the only way she knows how to make things right for the country and get her final laugh. And the duke is just someone that loves her unconditionally and guides her to a better emotional state and tell her what is ethical and what isnt and make her a better human being
She is basically like the evil darker version of Robin Hood. Yeah what she doing isn’t correct but it’s basically the only thing she knows and could do to save the kingdom. I rather have Tia work behind the scenes and gets her hand dirty to save the kingdom from her brother and the other duke. Yes it isn’t what the pure Duke would want but he truly needs Tia if he wants to save the kingdom. The kingdom wouldn’t survive alone with just him as a kindhearted king because some people would just walk all over him and take his kindness for granted. It’s not like Tia is killing innocent people. I’m sorry but i rather have a few already evil life be taken then to have every lives be taken/ruined because of greedy and evil rulers.

I know she already been punished, but I'm not talking about her first life. I'm talking about her current life and what she is doing now. she will not be punished in this new life even if she uses and kills people, the opposite, it will seem like a saint for it. and you can't say her action now is right either, but well it's a little complain I have.
other then that I really love her character and the story has a whole (≧∀≦) I like it a lot.
the only one she killed was the evil butler Bill who was in on killing her relatives. I doubt anyone views her as a saint like Dr Elise or any other isekai character. Its not right, but its effective. She is much much much better than Sanghee from They say I was a Kings daughter who just lie around trying to be cute to all the male characters. Most of the isekai characters usually elevate their osition by being interesting and winning the heart of a

Its not right, but its effective. She is much much much better than Sanghee from They say I was a Kings daughter who just lie around trying to be cute to all the male characters. Most of the isekai characters usually elevate their position by being interesting and winning the heart of a powerful man and knowing something quirky from modern world. Not many are ruthlessly political like Tia and I love her for it because she didnt gain power by getting the heart of the Duke. She only proposed marriage to the Duke as part of her plan to enthrone the right ruler for the kingdom. I mean, Id prefer her be the ruler but I understand that she doesnt feel right to get that position as even she know herself that she was not a benevolent person unlike the Duke. So she uses her skills and cunning to protect the benevolent Duke that will think about the countrymen unconditionally.
don't even talk about the bad writing character and story Sanghee, it only an insult to this story, and she just there to be a decoration for the guys to fangirl for no good reason.
has for out Tia.
did you ever read the "The Villainess Reverses the Hourglass" if you didn't, read it and you see Tia is not the only one.
I say it again, I get why she dirties her hands to get what she wants and for the sake of the duke and the kingdom but her action is still wrong. killing people to get the power position she wants is still wrong, but that the only way, as I said you can't get power without dirty your hands.
what I complain about is that the story will never say what she did is wrong, they will show her has a pure person despite she use and kill people cause it the cliche bs. she will never get punish for it, most of the chance, and that what I don't like.
I think things will be different this time around. In her last life she paid dearly for all the sins she comitted. Also in the last life, the people she considered closest and comitted all those sins for, only kept her around for the sake of using her.
Her bitchass mother most definitely took the risk of giving birth to her, so she could have connections to the Rozan estate as she was pregnant with the heir of the estate. From the beginning, she existed only to be used and thrown away. Her bitch mother kept brainwashing her with sentences like "For you and I to do well in the future, your brother has to do well. Her only purpose was to live for her ruthless bastard brother, scheme for him, do all the dirty works for him and then be silenced so she could not spill the secrets.
I dare you to still say that you would've done things differently, if you lived a life like that.
How you're raised and the kind of education you're given, shapes you as a person. I'm sure you're not ignorant of that fact. But she still turned out way better than her bitch mother and bastard brother.
After seeing what an incompetent ruler her brother was and what a mess of the kingdom he made, she's trying to repent by making the duke sit on throne.
As for doing the secretive work, that is a necessity. The duke is too straightforward and honest and that is the only reason he's still alive. Current emperor is too smart and cautious. He has planted his spies everywhere and suppressed half the noble faction with the excuse that they don't like his mistress. That's pretty clever move right there. To win against an enemy like that and maintain the power balance, you have to be equally or more scheming and ruthless. You need connections, spies. Information is everything in a power struggle. She has already taken off a huge burden from the duke because he will have the privilege of staying pure and not knowing the dark.
As for the "using other people" part, she hasn't harmed an innocent and forced someone in a deal with disadvantages as of yet. Whether it's Rozan family butler or the assassin named Rai, they got the best of the deal. Everyone who should've suffered, have suffered. She's clearly not as villainous as she considers herself to be. Truly bad people don't think that way. She even thinks that she doesn't deserve duke's love or kindness but I think if someone in this story deserves to be happy then it's her and the duke. Her way of doing things may not be the best but it's nothing too bad. In a power struggle, only the one who wins, survives and thrives. All the other people with the claim to the power get eliminated. If she does not do these things, anyway the duke will most likely be eliminated. So what other options you have when you're already by default in the power struggle. She uses her wit and intelligence. A little bit of manipulation, if it's not hurting the other party, is alright. Besides, I think Duke will most probably stop her from doing something excessively bad.
She is never portrayed as a saint though. There's a reason the title of the story is "The villainess lives twice".Her actions have never been justified. She schemed and killed and got what she deserved in the previous life and if she goes down the exact same path again, she'll suffer again. This author hasn't ever implied even subtly that Tia is a saint or a pure person because she's simply not. She was the cunning bitch who schemed for her brother, did all the dirty works for him, even killed for him. Does that all sound like good deeds to you? Has the author justified those actions? No.
Though I do hope that her path won't be the same as her last life and that duke's warmth will make her realise her worth. That she will realise that she doesn't have to exist simply as a stepping stone for somebody else. She has already prepared herself for the worst and is ready to die at the end of it all. She's suffered enough for a lifetime. I hope that the duke will stop her from doing something excessively bad. He's straightforward and pure but not stupid by any means. He knows what's going around in the town. So hopefully he'll stop her from crossing the line.
can you really claim, after she hires someone to murder others, that she seemed like a bad girl now? nope, the opposite the story shows her in a positive light, by murdering she "helping" others. and that is a bad massage.
and she will NEVER be punished for what she will do in her new life, even if she do horrible things again, she will still stay and live happily with the duke with no consequences. hurting her and is hurting the duke that will become emperor anyway after she finishes all her plans. and let me clear, she will never die even if she ready for it, it's that much of a cliche story.
I highly doubt that tho. She is not going to hear the end of it if Duke finds out. She isnt perfect, she is just understandable. That is the whole reason why the Duke is there to counter her with kindness and morality. If she was truly cast as a saint as you claim, then the Duke would have seen it as a good thing. Furthermore, no one nearby her is going against her because they are far weaker than her and also easily convinced by her words about the struggle for the throne, only the Duke has the authority to talk back and actually get her to listen... by abit. This is just Game of Thrones style court battle and I live for it so its not cliche. I highly doubt that the story would let her off without changing her to see a better light, or else why would the Duke be angered when she hurt herself as a means to get back at her mother.
We have a suicidal woman who is tormented by the evils she supported in the past and who would dirty her hands even if it cost her life to enthrone the rightful ruler that the citizens need. She didnt kill Bill cos she was a saint or that it was a good thing. She dirtied her hands because she had no fear nor attachment for her own life or reputation. I believe that is also why she asked to only be married for 2 years. It is common in court intrigue dramas for characters to scheme and vanish so that their crimes wont implicate those that they serve. As long as it means one less obstacle for the Duke to become King, it didnt matter if what she did will cost her life or not. Why would she care for her own life. She was ready to die as a sacrifice to the magic circle to send the Duke back in time. Her mission was not to relive a good life. She was evil and she regretted the choices she made to make her brother king and she has internalized how worthless she was and how she let the world down and that the only talent she had was for court battles and evil schemes and therefore its understandable that she hold no care for her own well being or moral compass as she felt that she was far from deserving redemption. It would be more unrealistic if she, someone who has only known how to act in a cruel world of politics, became a goody two shoes with googly eyes and be some sort of weird saint character the moment she went back in time. Furthermore there was only 2 years for her to fix everything wrong with the system like human trafficking. She asked for marriage not just cos she wanted to leave her mother but also make sure she enthrone the Duke as King, which is much harder since even the King is biased and favors her bro and killed off the Empress' children to get rid of legitimacy issues. I doubt she even love the Duke at all currently. It is realistic that she is emotionally broken and raised in an emotionless environment devoid of morality, The ends justify the means attitude. This is where the Duke comes in and actually steer her in the moral direction
Did you even read what they said? They clearly said that Tia IS a bad person but Tia is being bad for a reason. This story may be cliche but it’s also realistic. In real life do you honestly believe that people wouldn’t use other just to get their way? Also Tia only “murdered” ONE person and that was the butler that would always abuse her. Tia had to get rid of him cause if he stayed alive everything she is trying to prevent happening would happen. It’s not like Tia could just pack up and leave from her family even if she wanted to because the kingdom would still be at risk. Tia isn’t doing it for the duke or herself but for the kingdom. Do you reallly want someone as evil as Lawrence to be king? To win in a game of power you have to be cunning, sercetive and evil. If you don’t agree with what and how she doing then it’s better off for you not to continue reading this book and to read something that is sweet and innocent since you can’t seem to handle realistic books

This may just be me, but I feel like Rael shouldn't have been yelled at like that at the end. I mean in that scenario she made the decision she thought was best because she didn't think both of them could make it. Yunifer obviously thought that both of them could survive, but in that situation we really can't be sure. Like from what i saw from the panels, the tentacle looked really close to both of them. I feel like if Ishid wasn't there, one or both of them would have been captured. But I don't know. Either way, Rael did what she thought was best, and she did try and save Yunifer. The way Yunifer was like "do you think I'm someone who needs saving", it just makes me think that she has something to prove. Like I'm sure she's not a damsel in distress and is very capable, but just because she isn't someone who needs saving doesn't mean she can't be saved. I don't know if that made sense, but it was kind of annoying when Rael got yelled at for what I felt like was not her fault.
I think it was more that she is surrounded by “stronger” people aka rael and ishid I also think blond dude has been hinted to be pretty strong as well I also think she knows that they kinda see her i that light bcz they’re used to people being weaker then them and I think the anger was just about that she cares about rael and that she was angry about her trying to sacrifice herself
