After reading passion and cringing almost every chapter, I didn’t have much expectations for this story. But I guess I was wrong. This one is SOO much better than the main story
For me, it's not just the excessive violence and assault. I just think the main pair lacks chemistry. The way they got together is forced, and the story tried to sell me as if the main character just tamed a mad dog, even though I'm just not convinced why the mad dog was tamed to begin with. On top of that, the side plot with the twin brother and whatever organization they were in was poorly written. It's like an attempt at world building, but it ended up being silly and unrealistic. I think Raga did much better at the taming the mad dog part, and the simpler plot helped to make the world feel more grounded.

Raga kinda has the same dynamic as Xinlu did start by hurting Yuri. However, Raga works because we are given reasons to Xinlu's madness, and Yuri's endless kindness and patience won Xinlu over. It feels like a natural progression.
In contrast, Ilay is a mad dog just because. He is portrayed as a psychopath but the author doesn't commit to it by making him fall for Taeui. Why did he even fall for Taeui? Who even knows. Taeui originally liked Xinlu, then somehow got entangled with Ilay. Honestly, Taeui affection towards Ilay felt like a mixture of stockholm syndrome and fear of not wanting to upset Ilay. It's hardly romantic. Maybe some people try to justify them because I heard they become cute later on in the novel. However, the way they get together is so questionable that I don't think the later scenes can salvage it. At least not for me. I enjoy enemies to lovers trope, but the original Passion is not it.
