Trying to remember more on it I think he was partnered with Michel's father and maybe liked him(?) but Michel's father being an awful person made him go through all that. (This might be a stretch, so don't really focus on this part.)
I assume it's just rich/royal people behavior and Ian was the victim of it all.

I can tell that Iseon’s father puts Yumin above his own son. But anyways back to the point I think that over the years while Iseon and Yumin were dating, I think Iseon thought to himself that he didnt love Yumin but instead that he was just doing this for the sake of winning his father’s affection, but in actual reality he did grow to love her but was blind to his own feelings and when his ignorance caused them to break up he realized how much he loved Yumin and thats why he’s still trying to get back with her after they broke up or either that he’s still stuck up on getting his father’s approval but Im not sure.
