I find it beautiful, in a way. Seojun has always been in the shadow of Seunghyun’s shining light. Everyone looks down on his acting and he himself agrees that he’s not capable enough but Seunghyun just keeps bringing him along and practically forcing everyone to accept Seojun. Seojun finally has enough of that life where he’s basically treated as a shameless leech and despises Seunghyun for essentially forcing the situations down his throat.
Meanwhile, Seunghyun just genuinely loves Seojun. He thought as long as they were together, everything would be fine. Seojun doesn’t have the same acting ability as him and he knows that but he also knows that his influence is enough to get Seojun in on all his gigs. He sincerely thinks that this will make Seojun successful and happy and they’ll be this fairy tale couple forever like this…then Seojun leaves. And he doesn’t just leave, he leaves while making it clear he hates Seunghyun. And Seunghyun is utterly surprised because all this while he thinks they’ve been living the life, what is there to complain about??? Why is his bae leaving him? WTF Seojun’s so unreasonable! He’s just throwing everything away? Just like that?!
So, indignant Seunghyun who feels like he’s been discarded despite pouring his heart and all his effort in the relationship decides he’s totally justified in treating Seojun like shit. It’s revenge! But he still also loves him and wants him back. But he wants Seojun back on his terms. He tries to get them onstage together, thinking this is all they really need. But it all goes to hell and Seojun’s leaving him again PLUS Seojun finally informs him that he’s sick of being in Seunghyun’s shadow.
Seunghyun has never seen it that way. But now his eyes are opened he sees it: everyone’s dismissing Seojun despite being in the same production as his partner. Even the assistants, the costume department, the director -everyone’s dismissing Seojun. All the posters promoting their production: it’s only Seunghyun’s face. Seunghyun’s name on top, Seojun’s as barely an afterthought with a smaller font under his name.
He finally starts to get it. Not completely, probably, but he now has an inkling. And even just that inkling prompts him to run to Seojun, apologise, and offer everything: does Seojun want him to leave the company? OK. Does Seojun never want to see him again? OK. But please, please act on stage. Because Seojun loves the stage. Please do what you love even if it means you’ll still hate me.
Dude, that’s love. I don’t think Seunghyun’s hateful or arrogant or a jerk at all. He’s just been privileged with his genius skills this whole time and living in his fairy tale romance world in his head before Seojun left. He really did not think that Seojun suffered but the moment he realised even the barest hint of that, he stopped being a jerk and gave Seojun a clean out. Wow. I think they’re lovely for each other. Would definitely be better if they keep apart though and get back later after Seunghyun’s worked on being more sensitive, aware, and understanding AND Seojun’s worked on his career, confidence, and finances. As it is they’re still pretty on unequal footing but the love is there and man do I love it

I understand that a lot of people will find the ML's behaviour deplorable but uh. It...let's just say this type of dynamic appeals to people with certain kinks. Very much. Aside from that I really like this story because it's not smut right off the bat. There's decent characterisation and from what I personally know of people with similar...personalities and traumas to the main couple, it's really quite realistic and relatable. It also appeals very much to my own love for tropes where both sides suffer a lot emotionally. it's very heartbreaking in a satisfying way. and when I say satisfying, from Chapter 51 at least, it's satisfying because they're really being tortured emotionally right now I love it soooooooooo much! I also like how the Uke isn't portrayed as overly feminine and weak. he's believably a soldier in physique and truth be told I find him charming. the ML is dickish but he's not evil, the reasoning behind his behaviour is kinda valid. valid in the way it explains why he's the way it is, not valid in the way it forgives his behaviour! it works. I love it so far.

I’ll go on to say that it’s actually commendable that he grew up with a successful career, no serious illlegal behaviors, and a rather…decent moral compass. It doesn’t justify him being a horrible person to Dr. Dan and it never will but it DOES explain why he is the way he is. He’s had a very difficult, very traumatic start to his life.
