I only find it weird in the stories where they’re challenging the power dynamic or stereotypes. then in the family arc ending, the omega who gets called mama ends up being a stay at home mom like 50’s nuclear family style (only takes care of the kids and cooks) so it feels like they’ve lost somehow…

I had a similar question as bitchless virgin-pilled teen. Do people who are Aro still dream about romance? Feel free to change my mind but I keep running into cakeverse shit and it’s the most snooze fest I’ve ever seen.
Omegaverse? The power dynamics, societal perceptions, prejudice, sexism, and class divide are all things I’ve seen explored in the universe that I think are strong world building that feels grounded in reality with enough wiggle-room for each author to put a spin on it (depending on the seriousness of the tone.)
But Cake-verse promises something edgy. “There are Cakes and the forks are attracted to their smell and taste and want to eat them!” It’s like cannibalism but NONE of the authors ever want to dive into those kind of stories. It has so much potential to have a psychological horror narrative of pleasure, fear and regret. but no. The Fork just has a kink for swallowing cum. Like you did not need a whole ass universe for some guy who likes to swallow. You can just make it a regular guy. The cakeverse barely adds anything to the world besides uhh forks can’t smell or taste so now they have a rape kink? They barely bite too?? This universe could make some interesting apocalypse stories but all these authors priorities are “what if semen was sweet flavoured?”
Like how 30 y.o. Shonēn hype-beasts have their “big 3” like it’s an undisputed fact that they are the most popular and maybe the only anime you could watch internationally at the time. And it’s always Naruto, Onepiece, and Bleach. Whether you liked it or not.
