so my theory is that the saint caste some spell on the knight and had him attack the princess bc look at his eyes he is clearly under a spell, and the priest that saw the markings is probably the one who help the duke use time magic to bring her back and that is why he is getting glimpse of the past , im sure that he loved her then as well but hated her more and the kiss with the saint in the past was intentional to hurt her as he only did it when he saw her watching, and the way the aid mentions her being an advantage I would assume that he brought her there in the past life in order to become stronger to avenge his aunt

Not quite right but our fl had a curse on her, n ml did that because he want to break a curse. N mind u, ml never hated her even in their past life. She was his greatest treasure. N about the kiss.. well u know, the plot twist of author always do.. they did not kiss.. just the angle of fl pov. N yeah, the saintess sure bring advantage but keep getting u in irk later on because she ‘love’ the ml too u know. N tbh, its not ml idea to use saintess like that, it was ‘HER’ idea to do that kind of thing because she know about the curse. N u know what? Ml always had this invinsible wall with saintess because ml still love fl despite looking like he hated her. But saintess keep getting more ‘bitch’ later on. In their past life, she even suggest the ml to had a kid with her n that really dont sit well with me. But still, it still didnt justify how cruel the ml did to fl in their past life, so yeah.. u might not like ml later on too..ahahaha
None of that explains why he acted like his wife's number one opp, a professional hater. I guess you can also think abt it like ur family who u became estranged with after u started living on your own. There are probably reasons why u don’t like ur parents or ur siblings and even if they aren’t actively in your life, it’s probably better to keep a distance.
