I caught up to Romance In The Beast World, and remembered this story existed. So I thought let's give it a try? I wanted to compare the two, to see which is better. After giving it almost close to 400 chapters I don't see any improvement in plot or character growth in anyone. The least worse one is Winston, who is more subdued/low self-esteem. He keeps busy just to distract himself from hurting...He deserves better!
All I see in every single chapter:
- contradicting statements/actions/plot holes
- obliviousness to danger/other characters feelings
- immature/petty squabbles
- heavy "woe is me"
- over possessiveness
- almost nonexistent body autonomy, to the point of the female MC being made infantile
- Female MC self inserting herself in everyones issues/business
- Constant flip-flopping of "I like you", "we are just together for pity", "you don't like me anymore", "I won't like anymore males after this"
- Over acting embarrassment every single time a male MC is remotely intimate or kind like its the first time
- No backbone/boundaries
At this point I am not sure how many years have passed. But my estimate is at least 4 years, and that would make her about 19 or 20 at this point, and she still acts like the same 16 yr old. I just can't stand heavy Mary Sue characters!
I gave her some grace because she was only a modern 16 year old but not having a system makes this boring.
