I think this is one of the most distressing you I have read in a loooong while. The MC is so kind, he raised the "ML", took care of him, and all he gets in return is this sorry excuse of a human being that can't respect any of his wishes that involves the "ML" to give up something...
And you may argue there were other yaoi like that, but I hate this one more, cause there is no love or desire in the MC heart for the "ML", he is disgusted of himself and utterly broken. In Killing Stalking at least it was two bad individuals, a stalker and a killer and there relationship was just rotten from the start. However in this one, the MC is super kind, has a family, RAISED the "ml" when no one wanted to.
Hmmm I feel like u missed some of the nuance tho.... Hyungnim kinda groomed chang geong to only depend on him as a child like he literally said he needed to be his one and only. Hyungnim is only now dealing with the consequences of making chang geong dependant on him and then abandoning him. Ofc change geon is horrible tho but its not like hyungnim did 0% wrong
I have so many mixed feelings over this... It already felt off because they had been teacher and student, then how messy everything just became. I felt Yuri was just so pushy at some points, but at the same time, Seonwoo was so distant and really avoidant. And what really makes me a bit weirded out is that I still don't feel Seonwoo loves Yuri, I sort of think they are good for each other, but even to the end the MC was talking about how bad he feels to be in this relationship... It was a good story, cause it did depict some interesting topics in a sort of realistic way, but I felt in the end they still lacked reciprocity
I am not that weirded put by age gap because both are consenting adults by Indo agree yuri is really pushy and seonwoo is distant he is still on fence whether he should date his student or not. And I totally understand him when you are old it really gets difficult to see someone as your romantic partner when you saw them as a kid before. They really have lots of issues that's why I feel rather than being in a relationship they should work on themselves.
I get this is yaoi and most of the time I like the sex scenes, but the scene in the hospital was so nonsensical. Firstly, i DOUBT there isn't anesthesia in their universe, it makes no sense to make the uke go such unbearable pain. Secondly, why have them sit like that? They could lay the uke down and the seme do it while properly seeing what he is doing. And lastly, REALLY? YOU WANT TO HAVE SEX RIGHT AFTER THE UKE WENT THROUGH A REALLY PAINFUL AND TRAUMATIC EXPERIENCE? Let the uke rest for Christ sake. This could've been a really sweet scene and I just couldn't get over how needlessly sexual they made this whole thing.
I think you perceived this scene as needlessly sexual because the manwha version doesn't go as deep as the novel.
In the novel we can read the POV of the protagonists and mostly it describe the way they feel.
It is portrayed as intimate not in a sensual/sexual way because it leans more on the feelings/bound and affection they both have for each other.
MC is in his most vulnerable moment and the one he choses to lean on was the ML in which MC has the most trust on. MC knew he could count on ML and because he's in a lot of pain MC truly needed an emotional support. The ML is this emotional support. That's why they choose to stay in this position because both of them needed this embrace to be more stable emotionally.
This scene was raw on emotions that's why it felt intimate like we were truly intruding a vulnerable moment between the two of them. That's why everyone gave them space because they knew MC and ML were both hurting and needed each other more than ever (MC was hurt physically when the ML was hurt psychologically/emotionally).
I didn't read the novel, so I'm basing my opinion over this scene from the webtoon. I know why they did it the way they did it, it was to convey intimacy, they are couple and this is an yaoi, but it is sort of playing on the sexual. As I said, the way they decide to do the "operation" IS a sexual pose to begin with, no one sits they way they sat is random people, then the way the moaning was done, the way the ML was holding MC waists and right after they just start making out and by the way the ML pulled him for the kiss, he was turned on. Specially cause, lets be real, all the phrases used could've also be used in a sexual context. And using other yaoi as reference, in painter of the night, after ML finds out the MC was raped, the ML gives him time to heal, sure, it was quite a bit of time, but it made way more sense there. Here the MC just lost something that was said to be incredibly sensitive and, so must've hurt like hell. In my humble opinion, they could've made this scene intimate and all without so many sexual tones and undertones.
I'll be honest, I haven't read for so long and skipped right to the latest chapter to see what's it all about and was BOTHERED by the position. Bruh, if you are injured and need some operation done, that is NOT IT!!! I don't care if you need comfort or whatever
But, anyway, yeah not context from the novel. Idk, even if you're a couple, isn't it weird to sit like that with someone else in the room? Like, I was shocked when I see the other guy

I've been reading this, but somewhere I completely lost track of the plot... What are the goals in this story?... Is it just shuri finding out she is loved and mending her relationship with the members of the family, or is there something else?
Yeah, I think the main theme of this story is found family but the other side of the story is probably related to political conspiracies (and Cardinal Richelieu)
Yea that is part of it, it's also about shuri fulfilling her promise and giving the title of head of house to Jeremy when he's of age, also there's also kinda taking down of the church since they are kinda evil and are behind the shit going on
