As far as I’m concerned, the story ended after Heil and River did their woohoo. With each chapter, the writing gets worse (it was already cringy and everyone speaks like they haven’t come out of puberty) and more convoluted drama springs up. This chapter takes the cake as almost the entirety of Heil’s character development threw itself out the window along with his brain.
Do you know what this is? This is what ‘Am i your daughter’ should’ve been. A memorable, not strong MC but knows when not to give up. Somethings gone wrong when you’re rooting for the bad guys to continue tormenting your MC because author is too much in love with her heroine and dedicates 10 chapters to show how pretty she is during misery times.
So after the baby was born, they just ignored her? She just happened to wander around aimlessly and nakedly in civilization and no one bats an eye? No one sought to track down her whereabouts or seek her mother’s relatives? At this day and age? And Heil’s old flame is considered a ‘sibling’?
I felt the writing and dialogue is getting mediocre and cheesy, with the saving grace being the beautiful art and Heil. Downvote me if you want, but thats honestly how i felt. Cant Heil and River enjoy shipping moments without convoluted drama getting in their way?
These are novel ending spoilers, what happens after Desir saved the world and all is well. I skipped all the way to the last paragraph. Please note that the manhwa may go to a different direction possibly. But as far as shipping go, here it is:
*****
Now that the world was at peace, now that there was not a terrorist organization or impending apocalypse, Desir finally allowed himself to slow down and be human. He finally looked at himself and realized what some part of him had felt for a long time.
He glanced towards Adjest, only to see her staring at him, and the two hurriedly looked away from each other without speaking.
“… You’re going to make me say it, aren’t you?” *Crack*
The atmosphere began to freeze calmly.
In the peaceful center of the lily of the valley garden, an ice palace that reflected the radiant moonlight was built.
“I care for you, Desir Arman.”
Adjest reached out her hand with a flushed face. “Would you like to be with me now and forever?” Desir carefully took her hand with a smile on his face. The white, soft and very warm back of her hand. “Forever.”
He kissed it.
1) Can someone explain why Ilya Clandor here: http://www.mangago.me/read-manga/the_god_of_pain_s_groom/uu/ibx_chapter-24/pg-1/
Didn't react in horror when he saw Khaol and Kaveri together, but later on, he did?
http://www.mangago.me/read-manga/the_god_of_pain_s_groom/uu/iur_chapter-30/pg-1/
It wasn't his first time seeing them in bed together, so why did he act as if he did, and caused Khaol to curse his bloodline?
2) Why did Heil say that he can't read the minds of the Clandor bloodline here http://www.mangago.me/read-manga/the_god_of_pain_s_groom/uu/ibx_chapter-27/pg-1/
And yet here, he can read Rivers thoughts? http://www.mangago.me/read-manga/the_god_of_pain_s_groom/uu/iur_chapter-33.1/pg-1/
3) Nana says she wasn't chosen as a bride because of her blind eye. http://www.mangago.me/read-manga/the_god_of_pain_s_groom/uu/tr_chapter-2/pg-1/
So sixty chapters later, why did she suddenly say she didn't know the reason of why she was rejected as a bride? http://www.mangago.me/read-manga/the_god_of_pain_s_groom/uu/ibx_chapter-67/pg-1/
1) I think it is because Ilya didn't realize that Kaveri was the emperor's concubine. I think he first thought that he was Khaol's normal lover, but then became shocked when he found out that his master was making love with a person belonging to the emperor. It could also be due to the time or place. He just might not have been expecting to see them making love and shouted out in reflex, and unfortunately a guard heard his shout.
2) Heil can't read the minds of the Clandors because he becomes friends/ develops feelings for them. At the time when River first came to the underworld, Heil did not have any feelings for him (either platonic or romantic), so he was able to read his mind. The moment he developed feelings for him, Heil could no longer hear his mind. It's just like when Heil met Forrest. He could also read her mind (that's how he heard all the slander about him). He will be able to read her mind until they become friends and he feels emotionally attached to her (develop platonic feelings of love).
1) Ilya's reaction was one that's genuinely horrified though. And for Khaol, for someone who's being secretive about sleeping with the kings concubine the first time Ilya saw them, he was acting quite normal?
2) I think it's the other way around, isn't it? In the chapter, Heil said he became friends with the Clandors BECAUSE he can't read their minds (and a sucker for their tragic back stories). So it doesn't make sense to me later on why he suddenly can read Rivers thoughts, perhaps author forgot about that plot detail?
1) Ilya is a foreigner, so it takes him a while to understand their language and their culture. That's why he probably didn't understand about the whole concubine of an emperor thing. It was only after he understood their culture that he really knew what Khaol was doing. And I think that's also why Khaol wasn't worried at first. Plus Khaol didn't want to wake up his precious lover who was sleeping.
2) Heil isn't really honest with his feelings. He pretends to be aloof and uncaring, but is actual a really caring person. He just doesn't like to admit his feelings for the Clandor clan. He loses his ability when he starts to care. http://www.mangago.me/read-manga/the_god_of_pain_s_groom/uu/iur_chapter-36/pg-1/
http://www.mangago.me/read-manga/the_god_of_pain_s_groom/uu/iur_chapter-45/pg-35/
3) Sorry, didn't see this point until now. Nana said that her father thought she wasn't good enough because of her eye, but not that she also thought that way. Khaol never came at all to choose a bride, so she was wondering if there was something that was wrong with the family/ her.
I feel like author could've eased it in a bit with Heil x River pairing now that they're canon. Don't get me wrong, I ship them so hard but it feels like author keeps going out of her way to assure us, through either River or Nana, don't worry, they won't get together, Khaol was my past, now you're my future, all the time. Remember that good writing = SHOW, NOT TELL, and there's been so much of 'telling'. Am I the only one who doesn't appreciate it whenever author does this?
This is probably the most well developed character piece any Yaoi has ever seen in a while, especially for Shin, at times it even eclipses the depth of Painter in the night, and instead of giving the recognition the series deserves, all you people could say is 'OMG SHIN YOU BITCH YOURE QUEEN!' Seriously? Did you really read the series just so you could read a stereotypical cliche 'omg I love you let's fuck like bunnies' ending and actually throw a tantrum when you didn't get it?
Don't let the fucking door hit you on the way out. Leave the story to the readers that best know how to appreciate it.
hey I get that some readers don’t deep dive with stories, and this story is a really well developed one, but if the readers enjoy it then let them enjoy it their way. Not everyone has to really “appreciate” the story to read and enjoy it, if some of them make you mad then just leave them be and continue to “appreciate” the story your way
The artwork for the smut in this manga is OUT OF THIS WORLD, and explicit enough that I couldn’t believe it wasn’t a KR webtoon lol, though it’s still censored. Ignore the SA mentions, their relationship is sweet and wholesome.
