His aunt killed ML parents to become president of the company. That man is the driver who killed his parents. ML aunt paid him the money. Now he is being greedy by asking for ML hand in marriage to strike rich. ML is very loving, loyal and respectful for the FL. ML aunt basically blackmail ML to have an engagement during which ML and FL breakup. But ML knows that the man is beneath their station and dont know why his aunt is agreeing to this marriage. Basically he finds out she paid ransom to have his parents killed. He suffers a lot that the uncle and aunt who raised him killed his parents and had the audacity to take him under his roof.

I wouldn’t say red flag! He does get desperate and almost goes crazy over her but that’s it

He's a major red flag in the novel. I just finished it and his personality turned repulsive the more the story progressed. To the point that I'm starting to think about dropping the manhwa at this point where he's still sane.

What does he do?

SPOILER!!!! I finished the novel a while back so I cant say I remember correctly, but he threatens to k*ll himself when Laura first rejected him and even when they "stopped talking" so he could get better it only made him more obsessive

In short, he proposed to her in the worst setting ever and when she refused he threatened her that he'll shoot himself in the head or throw himself out of the carriage that they were at just for her to accept. He forced the wedding ting into her finger and threatened her to die multiple times if she insisted to refuse.
Laura being laura scolded him, she actually slapped him twice across the face (bless her, he really deserved that) and when he shifted from oppressive suitor to a crying baby in her lap, she comforts him by petting his head few times. Him being crazy thought that this was a clear sign that she changed her mind and accepted his proposal, so he lifted his head and kissed her. She kissed him back but she realized her mistake a moment later snd runs away from the carriage. But he turns full lunatic mode and thinks that she must love him so much and that this kiss is the proof even when he saw how much distress it caused her. The whole carriage scene was so ugly honestly.

Anyways Laura leaves the very next morning to another city in order to stay away from ian while he still thinks that the kiss was a valid answer to his proposal, so he comes the next morning with the wedding ring and flower arrangements to propose again only to find out she'd left. He follows her to that city despite him knowing that she went there to run away from him, he stalks her and causes her much distress during her stay there.
Fast-forward to the red flags post their marriage, he disrespected her boundaries many times. He insisted on showing intimacy outdoors and literally got caught twice despite Laura begging him to stop, and he admits that he was acting like an asshole just to test her love for him. Then finally he's too obsessed with her to the point that he nearly killed his nephew who had fell in love with Laura, he used his gun Infront of her amd shot the boy 8 times, luckily all of them messed him, but then he proceeded to beat him until he lost consciousness, broke 6 ribs snd lost a teeth all Infront of laura. The horror this woman faced..

Omg! And I thought he is the most amazing uncle! Now I want to see how this plays out in the manhwa, so far it's so peaceful and Austen-like. Thanks for the spoilers. Atleast I know what to expect, the author totally ruined his character! Poor Laura, the girl can't catch a break!

tysm for this! It's just that usually characters are already a red flag from the start and not the other way around esp now ian's very popular and well loved. Sad that it had to go that bad in the future

WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK!??!

Right!! That nephew wasn't shown in the manhwa yet, but he's actually the oldest fairfax son and he was raised by ian himself to the point that ian considered him a son as well. I was soooooo disappointed that ian didn't try to solve the issue any other way than violence. And he cut his ties with the boy completely. Even though he was aware that the boy's mental state wasn't that good after he just escaped an abusive relationship. Until the very last page i was hoping that the author will fix their relationship somehow, but no. I only hope that all this bullshit could be fixed in the manhwa someway..

He wasn't a major red flag. But we already knew that he was completely clueless when it comes to women. Remember how he took advice from his sister about how to get Laura's attention and she advised him to ignore her a little and get closer to other women. Wnd he actually did that, that's why he got close to dora lance. Which will cause a huge scandal later about how ian hadn't proposed to dora and will affect her reputation. But ian said it clearly that he doesn't care about the girl he got into his mess just because she's not laura. He's not the smartest guy out there that's for sure..

Wow what the fuck! I mean, Ian clearly steered clear of any sort of violence when it came to the FL's abusive cunty uncle and that American creepy geezer who was vying for the FL's hand in marriage.....and yet he does this to his own nephew??? I haven't read the novel but on the surface of it, I find his character quite inconsistent now.

Tysm for the spoiler. Yeah he's not the smartest when it comes to woman. That's why his sister help him. But threatening to khm and stalking untill she distressed... that's toxic man. I do wonder how ian will win laura's heart, but i don't expect it to be this extreme. I thought this story gonna be a beauty elegant romantic story

Whatttt. And I thought Ian would be her refuge in her ever tumultous life when she's pressed for the ires of london's high society and its turning out he's her future headache??
