so many complex emotions in this one. on one hand, i hate that the mother abused lily emotionally, physically and left her with some much trauma. and then now in this second life, she changes suddenly and takes on this responsibility to take care of lily only bc in the first life she messed up so badly and feels bad...i want to believe in redemption but she is worth it? idk...this chapter shows just how traumatic the experience is and i can see how seeing her once abusive and alcoholic mother be so competent as an empress it makes her question why now? the scene from good place comes to mind like "i wanted that mother" someone competent, capable but why now shes able to do it now and not before. and also the complexities that she only has her mom and now it feels like her mom doesn't need her anymore. this manhwa is too good and complex under all this beautiful artwork.
i wished we got to see more mother and daughter bonding. i just don't feel like we see lily getting to spend time with her mother instead with her maid or brother. heck she spends more time with the emperor than her own mother...
This chapter, and what you said hit me really hard. Growing up, my mom was emotionally abusive, neglectful, and in most of my memories, severely depressed. But, after a particularly bad break down, she finally went to therapy, and she changed into a completely new person. She was now the kind, loving mother I always wished I had when I was young. And it’s hard, watching the person who hurt you heal before you can. It’s like they never even existed, but you still have to see them everyday. It’s like being haunted by a ghost.
I think the author has done a good job so far showing these complicated emotions and how a child would deal with them. I just hope the story continues to give lily the time and space needed to heal.
(Also, after lots of therapy for both of us, and many conversations with my mom in which she acknowledged the pain she caused, we are doing so much better. Sorry to drop such a heavy subject on your comment)

Oh my goodness. I have kept this on my reading list for so long and have always thought it was so much darker than its predecessor. Still it but it’s mixed with history and realistic part of living in Japan during that time. I have mixed feelings about it.
I felt a rollercoaster of emotions. Happy -> dejected -> hopeful? -> depressed -> shocked -> sad again -> happy finally.
I’m happy to see that he was able survive the war and come home and that they have a child together and can finally live their lives together without anything holding them back.
I usually am ok with the childhood friend/oppa character but there is something about him that i just don't like. He doesn't feel genuine to me and now seeing his flashback, there is just something fishy about like i'm with ML on this one. Something's not right here.
He def likes the FL but the vibes are just giving off that he's got some ulterior motives...
I like this bc the ML is so silly, he overreacts, he's a overthinker and acts childish but it doesn't come off as annoying bc I think I can understand where he's coming from...
I hope we see more bonding moments

i hope to see anya actually pass or maybe do pretty good (by her standards not like higher than everyone else) bc we've seen many times that she works hard only to fail or do the bare minimum for laughs and its just disheartening to see. i hope the studying actually works and we can see anya actually learn things by finding joy/fun with the material. :)
First of all, I want to say if my mom said that to me I would have no contact with that mother. Wtf this is literally your daughter and you’re taking the fucking bf’s side. And telling your daughter those disgusting words wtf is that supposed to do? Help her. Fuck her. I hope we see the mom really eating those words. I also hate that the ex just gets to walk away but I guess that’s how it is in real life.
As for the brother, I think it terribly overstepped. Yes, it’s sometimes necessary to get context. But it’s really none of his business and he should’ve asked his literal adult younger brother about how he feels. I think it’s better to tell the person you care for that you’re there for them and reassure them where you stand instead of interrogating the new gf about her personal circumstance. Rude. His hearts in the right place but still bad.
To be honest most asian parts like Japan it's a very misogynistic society where even women are misogynistic. You can actually see that even in modern Korean or Japanese dramas the mothers are always taking sides of their sons. It's very sad but we have been grown to think that even if we get mentally abused we can't cut off our parents.
I always hate the trope of the guys fighting each other over the girl. "We'll see whos better for her". No, no. SHE'LL decide whos better for her and it looks like she's already decided boo. unless they want to have a threesome..i mean ig???
a fake dream threesome would be great but not a real one that gets carried out or maybe it'll be poly now that will be interesting
i hate the trop as well, i've never liked polyamorous relationships in manga/manhwa and i never will. like the guy just doesn't even understand what "being taken" means.. it's so disappointing that the author had to go this direction. and she clearly said she chooses her boyfriend (which obviously) so i don't understand why he doesn't know the word "back off." he's such a douche character.
I'm glad that Lily and her mom was able to clear up any misunderstandings and fix the relationship before it gets bad. I loved seeing the family actually spend some time together and wish there are more chapters like that.
