imo karel’s behavior is pretty justifiable if we think about all the thinks karel has done for sasya. he literally took the blame for the murder, 25 yrs prison sentence, went to war, etc. and honestly it makes sense that once he saw sasya at the sponsors party he wasn’t joyous, it also makes sense that he wants to trap sasya up like a bird in a birdcage because of his distrust in sasya after all the things hes done
i also understand sasya’s pov and his behaviors. i mean his ptsd was really bad and its understandable after what he went through, keep in mind that was a very traumatic event. sasya was truly in love with karel but felt like he had nothing to give to karel, he wanted to be something more. sasya immediately recognized karel when they met again even though he was pronounced dead. he stayed with karel no matter how crappy he was treated because he loved karel.
