I really hope at some point we get a flash back of VX (yiyeon) POV when L (Jin Kang) left the industry and disappeared. I want to know what was his initial thoughts were when contact was lost and the team, the team dynamic switch (them complaining lol), how he felt during that time, how he ended up finding him, what he thought when he eventually did, etc. Maybe having it all the way up til catching B. Also when he eventually does reveal himself himself I want him to explain everything (being black, etc) as well. I think all that together would cover several unanswered questions and bring more to the story! Still love this manhwa!

If you wanna know, the short version is he sank into doubt and then went off the rails. Lrot running away from him did not help at all.
Long version, he wavered for about a month before putting everything into finding Lrot only to have L run away the second he got near with no explanation, so then he sank into reeeaaally deep doubt after that (does he hate me). And then he tried to give up for about a week before realizing he can’t live without L, so he basically threw a hacker tantrum and took down a bunch of companies that L had done jobs on in the past to try and get L’s attention. Too bad L went completely off the grid! At this point he’s deeply regretting respecting L’s wishes to not pry into his irl, so Yiyeon does the sensible thing and goes through two years’ worth of chat records to glean any and every bit of useful information possible, and then build a list of possible candidates (numbering in like, at minimum several dozen if not a couple hundreds worth of people). And then he went to go see each and every one of them in person, because of course he has to. He’s at almost three dozen down the list when we first meet him.

No one’s started a tl of the novel afaik, I just mtled the raw. Yiyeon got “the most Lrot-like feeling” from Jin Kang after meeting him in person & interacting w him, but he still wasn’t a 100% sure so he kept going down his list. What actually confirmed it for him isn’t even shown in the manhwa (which imo is endlessly stupid), but basically in Hong Kong before Lrot completely dipped, VX managed to get spyware onto his laptop. That laptop ended up not being booted for an entire year, so it didn’t do him much good until very recently though lmao

And what the deal breaker was is that before jin Kang went completely off the grid VX managed to plant spyware on L's laptop, but unfortunately for VX L did not use it for a year which was a dead end. Until jin Kang started using it again to hack and all that. Probably around the TAREN incident when jin Kang realized something was trying to read him. Then VX knew and confirmed that Jin Kang was L after the spyware was activated and was able to track it to his computer?

To be exact, the second that Lrot booted his old laptop up after a year was the second that VX caught on. Remember how Black always seems to know just exactly when Lrot comes online & where he is? It’s thanks to the spyware that he’s able to react so quickly.

…yeah so that’s where it gets confusing, because like I said earlier, none of this is in the manhwa proper. For the talen incident Jing Kang was supposed to be using a used laptop he randomly bought, he’ll turn on his actual old laptop not too long after that iirc. In the novel there’s actually a period where he really doesn’t touch his computers much, and the deep web basically at all because he’s wavering on how much he actually wants to go back to that world. He’s actually not tracking B or anything bc it’s still to risky for him. After he was almost caught by VX & lost B’s tail, he actually also almost gave up. But then Mrs. Kim’s stupid son happened, and he found he really couldn’t leave it all behind after all
