flashback sequence are boring and won't add much to the things we already know about the two of them
this is a weird take for this story specifically. this flashback gives more insight into their relationship, ian’s devotion, and eunsan’s issues. i understand wanting to see them progress in the present, but they have issues stemming from this point in their lives, so this adds depth to their characters individually and together.
i did say when i dropped it in chapter 50 something that this story is one big tragedy porn. ml behaving like that makes for a more riveting tragedy, sylhan's life is one big angst we can wet our pillows on and thats it.
obviously the story isn’t finished so if it ends a certain way we could say that. but i do believe there is times when the characters have a light or positive way in the story. sylhan has been suffering but i don’t think it’s unnecessary to the plot. there’s also been progression in small ways with the details that are given to us the reader and characters. gjord isn’t the best. i can say i rlly enjoy this story and sylhans character completely without gjord. but also i think readers forget none of the other characters should know what’s happening to sylhan because no one is informing them. could be wrong here just inferring but they’re being told a story/ agreed to something and expect that. gjord was away for two years? and only received letters or such from lysbet. the lack of knowing is weird but it’s probably important to the plot, even if it’s not being shown well. really to sum that up i think there is a story as well as progression to it, ignoring the relationship with gjord..

and didn't like any of the characters, dumbass top and bland helpless bottom. uninteresting plot points at that. sex scenes were always scary and rough for one party. at some point top watched bottom slowly diminished before his eyes for being house prisoner/future mistress and still play dumb and took too long to make decisions. didn't even grovel.
