Wait noooNot too much on Geonpil because let’s be real: he was a whole high schooler when he met his hyung. I honestly don’t think he liked him romantically at first ( because you can see that his Hyung became conscious of him first). And he was just afraid of being alone obviously, and he wanted to pay back the kindness that he received in the only way he could. He slept with him to make HIM happy- not because he was in love with him…imo. So that’s why I hate the fact that everyone’s like “oh he’s such a user”, and everyone feels bad for his hyung, when the reality is that Geonpil is MUCH younger than him and, there’s kind of like a power imbalance if we’re being frl…
Look I'd agree if geonpil wasn't 28 years old, sure they first me when he was 18 but it's been 10 years since then and I'm p sure 4 years since they've moved in w one another (could be wrong abt the move in date tho didn't double check that but point stands) even the story itself acknowledges the fact geonpil was being selfish and knowingly took advantage of his hyung, hence the whole "sins on your back" thing from the shaman
Tbh I think the mc is a very morally gray human character…At first he got a friend and a safe place, just to find out he had feelings for him and wanted to fuck him and his mother feels contempt towards him. So he gave that guy what he wants and later on he started to see that guy ignoring him too. Then later, he found his Hyung who became like a family to him, even that Hyung had feelings for him too…he couldn’t accept him nor could he rejected him bcoz he didn’t want to lose this special family bond and shared home they had…so he just slept with Hyung to fill the void and also because he thought he would have to leave him and everything behind if he didn't…His reason is silly but that’s what he interpreted based on his previous trauma and fear of abandonment. And also he nvr asked for any of the things that Hyung gave him nor he ever wanted to change, but Hyung gave him that place and everything on his own and Hyung was pretty controlling over his life too. But then again he also did a bad thing bcoz He used Hyung thinking it was the only way to keep him close. It was obviously wrong but did he do it just because he was an evil bitch? Nope. He just wanted to keep having a roof over his head next to the only person who makes him feel at home, even if that means pushing his platonic feelings aside and sleeping with them. And later he acknowledges his faults too. And He nvr tried to give Hyung any false hope either…Of course he was wrong, but then again that’s how he was from chapter 1! The whole point of his redemption arc was that he did selfish things, realize it, amends for it and change himself. And that’s why I don’t hate his character at all. And also remember that you are not obligated to return back the same efforts other ppl gave on you “on their own accord”.
