Despite everything he still loves her, so he's trying to win her back.

I think he's always loved her. He hates her because he believes she abandoned him to die and wants revenge and ownership of her, but still deeply loves her like he always has.
hold up…. you’re on to something there. Maybe he’s changed because he pushed her to the point where she doesn’t care and wants to die. And by acting nicer he hopes that she’ll regain that will to live. But HE wants the be the reason she wants to live again not another ML? it’s that hate/love relationship built from a twisted past
ohh wait okay okay so you're saying he's switched up basically because he's jealous. I don't know if he's being so calculated tho. I feel like he's going off of his feelings. Like, because he was mad and hurt that she abandoned him he wanted her to feel pain. So much so that he even thought he had seen her smile enough, that he grew tired of it, but when he realized that spark in her was still there he wanted to be the reason for it. Again, possessive and controlling because he wants to be the reasons for her emotions?
I just let out the biggest sigh. I’m worried for our girl here, will she ever be happy or free :(
