They’re saying they like *reading* it over *writing* it, not that this story isn’t toxic. As in they had a hard time writing their original idea which given the tags they shared was “noir” and “revenge” and “love/hate” means they plot was prob a lot more psychological and complex than jinx. They are obv talking about their original idea which was scrapped, not jinx. Jinx is def still toxic but the plot is fairly straightforward and jjk and dan are never truly adversaries or chasing revenge against each other etc. All they meant is that even though they enjoy reading the trope, and it’s more fun to be the reader than the writer and they bit off more than they can chew for their first post-alex idea which is how the mma fighter x physical therapist idea came to be, where there can still be violence and toxicity but less intense than something like pearl boy or dark heaven for instance.
The plot is so odd bc why didn't the ml just bring up the promise like its not some sort of secret. but also this randomly remembering the promise is just as random. like I thought there was ganna be some build up to the realization/clearing of the misunderstanding and instead it just a random 'ah I remember' like buddy what
