Trust fall!

She was, not once, in the wrong.
She was not wrong to not be treated like a servant in her own house.
She was not wrong to run from the knights when they invaded her house.
She didn't put the twins in danger, she was protecting them from an invasion from a hostile force. He literally said "kill her" and if the twins had tried to interfere, they too would have been punished.
The Lombardy family seems like it's powerful enough to rule this empire and doesn't simply because of old ties and honor. Step on that honor and see where you at, you f*ing brat!

If everyone's speculation is right....
I really really hope that the aunty didn't use her own egg if she stole the sperm and thought the sperm was her nephew's.
That would be very.... Incestuous.

And its not less weird if it's yiyi's.
Yiyi's biological son then would be his future husband's biological cousin. As it is (again if everyone's speculation is correct) nominally, that's still the case.
Man, this gets confusing.

Did.... Hosik shrink?
I thought he was up to the MLs chin?

    Ethan March 10, 2021 5:29 pm

I thought the same but I went back and checked and nah he's always been more on the short side

I think it says something about society that fantasy manga about fathers actually caring about their daughters is becoming popular. Exactly what, I don't know, but it says something.

Like, the typical Shoujo is finding a powerful, handsome dude who'll love a plain girl forever just for being normal (or being too quirky, too whatever). Add whatever stage dressing to that as you please. (Fantasy prince, highs school elite, overbearing CEO, etc, etc) It's the usual drivel geared towards peeps insecurity of not being "good enough" to be loved. " Look, this plain secretary caught her dream boss's eye just because she bought mint ice cream every day! If she can be loved, some day maybe my prince charming will find me too!"
And that's fine. We all read fantasy as a way to feel good.

But this trend of "Powerful Daddy cares about me in a non-sexual way, and protects me even in a male dominated society." speaks to a different sort of insecurity. The fact that this resonates with so many readers is..... Well I have a lot of mixed feelings about it.

In one way, I'm glad that caring fathers is being represented in media. We need more heros and role models for young men that it's ok to show affection to your kids, especially daughters. And that you can be manly and powerful and still caring. It's not "effeminate" to care about children. That's how things get normalized. Through media like this. Even if this is more geared towards girls.

In another way, I find it disturbing that we need to turn to fantasies like this to fulfill that need for fatherly affection in our lives. It resonates so strongly because it's lacking in real life.

Thoughts? Opinions?

me who has daddy issues : ...
" It resonates so strongly because it's lacking in real life. "I agree, but i am sucker for this kind of stories XD

    Aragonis March 9, 2021 5:25 pm

I think you are right, I have daddy issues too cause my father abandoned me so maybe that's one of the reasons I really like these stories. ( ̄∇ ̄")

    Sparkleeeeey March 9, 2021 6:15 pm

Mine was long gone so I comfort myself by reading lots of this of manhuas. It's impossible but atleast in these stories, I could feel the love of a 'father' even if it wasn't real and wasn't for me at the first place(•‿•)

    *who's cutting the onion? Ó╭╮Ò

    Kalli March 9, 2021 6:26 pm

I have more mommy issues in that sense, but both my parents have a problematic relationship with me and tend to prefer my brother more so reading about loving families is a huge comfort to me, especially when the mc came from troubled past and gets reincarnated/transmigrated into said loving family. In other words, I can totally understand why they're so popular.

    Ace March 10, 2021 6:31 am

This comment section is quite sad tbh. Although I don't have those problems it's just that my parents aren't exactly very loving towards each other, so they end up fighting for a bit.

Am I the only one that reads these things just for the sole purpose that the story is an isekai? I don't care if it's romance, fantasy, modern, medieval, comedy, action, adventure or anything at all. I am just a sucker for isekais because I like seeing or reading how characters can adapt to the situation in a WHOLE DIFFERENT WORLD. I also tend to imagine myself in many different situations like time traveling, dimension crossing, aliens and monsters etc. It's really fascinating xd

    rose March 10, 2021 2:18 pm

I'm in the same boat. Dad left when I was twelve, but that was more relief than anything. I've been lucky enough to have two amazing step dad's since then, but my initial trauma from bio-dad, and the death of my first step dad had definitely left me with some abandonment issues.
I enjoy these for all the same reasons others are.

Nothing wrong with that either, but technically this one isn't isekai. She's originally from this world and hasn't travelled to a different world at all. Unless you mean social-economically. Just saying.

Fantasy writing is always about fufilling, well, fantasies. That's what makes them so satisfying. Whether that's a desire for power, love, attention, novelty/adventure, or financial and emotional security, we project ourselves into the protagonists to fulfill those desires.

You can usually break down any story into these "goals" if you will. For instance most Shonens are complete power trips where an increase of strength solves all problems. Shoujo is usually more about gaining emotional security and attention from idealized men. Seinens and Josei are more complex and geared to a more complex audience with more complex desires.

You don't need to analyze it deeply to enjoy it though. I just wanted to comment about this particular niche raising in popularity. Keep loving reading. ヾ(❀╹◡╹)ノ~

That's true. Maybe I really like the concept of "obtaining" a new body.
I also enjoy reading your comments. I am not really the best at english, but you really do capture your thoughts well xdd

Maybe you are just thinking too much? I have a normal daddy, but I love these kind of stories about powerful, protective daddies, too, you know? Just for the sake of entertainment, and those daddies are my 2D men type (of course, 2D =/= 3D).

To anyone reading this for the first time:
1: This manga and it's prequel are DECADES old already. Unfortunately, they are as complete as they ever will be. There will be no new updates. Matoh-sensei hasn't even published anything since 2014. She's probably retired.
2: the two mangas, Fake and Fake 2 we're drawn nearly a decade apart from each other. That is why there's such a dramatic shift in the art between the two series.
3: This is just my personal feeling, but I like to think of Fake 2 and the extras as just that, extras. The first 7 volumes of Fake is as good as it gets and anything else is gravy.

Double ears....
Why do they need two sets of ears!?!
Why do you do this mangaka!?!
Are they cosplaying?!?

    Obviously.
I just despise double ears. Is one set non-functional? Do they have super hearing? I can't think of a single mammal that has two sets of ears, so wtf?
    Its lazy drawing and/or writing.

    Pacgirl March 3, 2021 7:00 pm

Yeah in case people don’t understand your comment. Drawing 4 ears on a animal character is a little strange. It’s just not very well thought out character design. Something a lot of the art majors at my university love making fun of when they see it. XD

rose March 1, 2021 3:41 pm

Nooooooo not the double ears!!!!
It always weirds me out!!! Σ(っ°Д °;)っ

Same but the story and the sex scenes are really good. So I’m gonna ignore them this time lol

Honestly, I would have expected this outburst more from Lily, the now middle child who used to be the baby of the family.

Its not difficult getting another younger sibling when your the oldest. You're kinda used to getting a little less attention from your parents after the first younger sibling. But it's hard going from the youngest to a middle child. Not only are you not as pampered, but now you have the responsibility of being "the older sibling". Less attention and more responsibility is a sure fire way to feel unappreciated and less loved.

So you go either one of two ways, become a hellion to try and get that attention back or become a peacemaker and accept getting forgotten about.

Lily seems to have gone for the later route, but I'm actually quite surprised, her having been the baby for quite a while before Ashley was even in the picture.
