I haven't really read the future chapters so I don't really know how Ash acts; but, from what I have read already, I believe that Ash is just trying to open new doors for Lyle, who has never known these doors to exist before. In Lyle's past relationships he never got to express himself, never even thought about it. Because of that he has no idea what other doors exist that he may or may not like, or how to explore them.
in his own way, Ash is trying to open those doors for him. Is Ash being a little to pushy? Yes, a little; but, with Lyle that's not really a bad thing since Lyle will never take the jump himeself, unless he's nudged a little, and find out if he likes somehing or not. Hopefully this all makes sense and doesn't sound like total crap that is completely off track :,)
