As a child with narcissistic parents, this made me cry T-T. His dad is a narcissist and can’t see outside of himself. Everything revolves around him, everything ONLY affects him or affects him the most in all situations. Only his feelings and reputation matter. Demeaning your own child’s feelings and experiences to prioritize and center your own, sick. People like this do not deserve to have children. What an abusive POS. Hmm, maybe dad was triggered bc he probably has shit hidden in that room and secrets that the author is gonna reveal later that explains why he treats his son that way, but pls,,, some people are just twisted. No matter how hard of a time I’m having, I would never take that out on my child. Idc what that circumstances were that let you treat your own child that way, sure I can recognize we’re all human and people make mistakes, not everyone is perfect. But the dad’s own past experiences (I feel like something traumatic happened? Or the other daddy cheated and left some kind of messy shit, Was he graped?idk) whatever it was, doesn’t erase the trauma that the dad literally put his child through HIS WHOLE LIFE. Sigh. I hope mc gets at least one gratifying moment jabbing at the dad or even better, no-contact, :(. (That’s probably not gonna happen tho) filial piety in a lot of Asian cultures is truly a curse.

I’m curious to see how the story is going to redeem Winston bc idk a gun to my head is quite unforgivable in my book. like wth he pointed the gun again even after uke said he had a child. How can you fall in love with someone like that again.
There was probably a situation where the MC was raped or taken to the dead father against his will and the LI thinks he was betrayed after being promised a forever and saying he was pregnant. There’s probably some other kind of manipulation by the family that made the situation so bad that the MC couldn’t do anything but go with the lie and make Winston hate him at the time. This is probably what the family doesn’t want him to know because then he would take everything from the family (he is probably the alpha head of the family now in charge of their whole business or estate) and go to the MC.

Oh yeah,,, I’m definitely sure something like that happened based on what the family was saying about the family “secret” or whatever there’s has to be a lot of manipulation going on… but I think im just trying to understand how bad the family would have manipulated the situation for Winston to point a gun at uke’s head (when you point a gun at someone’s head you are literally wishing death upon them, you have the upper hand) like there are so many other ways you can be mad at someone but not kill them (he literally just could’ve told him to get his ass out of the room….

Yeah, idk, people who grow up around guns are different… (had a lot of people “joke” about shooting me if I did something bad when I studied abroad in Texas, and all the kids in my class handled guns after school and would point them this way and that way). I agree with you that it’s actually how severe it should be, and it is probably a case of severe trauma in the story as well, but also that gun culture along with hyper masculinity makes people not see guns as something serious. Which could also be something the author is trying to depict. Tons of guns and military men in their stories (that take place in the US)

It’s absolutely heartbreaking reading the beginning chapters and seeing how animated and lively Erna is. Her spirit is so bright and curious. She finds joy in the most beautiful things and she’s such a kind soul and she was also raised to be kind as well(naive at times but still stubborn enough to counter her naivety) . It’s so hard seeing her slowly break and lose her spirit chapter after chapter, just reading the things that all of the maids/workers at the estate were saying about her, and the way that the royal family treats her, AND to put the nasty cherry on top the way Bjorn treats her and talks to her as if she’s an object. Her losing the baby I think was definitely a sign of her condition and from the universe that Bjorn and her relationship would not work regardless and I think as heartbreaking as it was not having the baby gave Erna an opening to leave. And I’m glad she did (hopefully in her time away she can properly grieve her baby). Bjorn is too caught up in his perception of her and what he thinks she wants, as much as he thinks what he is doing is for her, it’s NOT. Because everything he’s doing “for her” is only to make himself feel good. He does things out of his ego and that is his downfall. If he truly loved Erna he would take into consideration Erna’s thoughts, feelings, and her being as a human. But bc he’s in love with the idea of her, he doesn’t see her for herself and objectifies her. Not to mention his insensitivity about the miscarriage and then treating her as if she’s a baby making machine. I also can’t get over the fact that he thought it was okay that if the public never knew the truth about princess gladys that Erna and the baby would be ridiculed for the rest of their lives but that didn’t matter, because he loved them…. He keeps saying he loves but I’ve never(or barely) seen him defend her when the public did criticize and EAT HER ALIVE. I have so much more to say but I know that she’s eventually gonna end up with Bjorn but if I were Erna no amount of groveling or apologizing would ever make me go back to him. I cannot forgive him, I cannot forgive his family ESPECIALLY THE BITCHY ASS SISTER(his family was absolutely complicit in harming Erna, as he was too) and I absolutely cannot forgive the public for tearing her down. I truly hope she’s able to stay in the countryside and live out of the public eye even if she ends up back with Bjorn. They don’t deserve her joy and beauty. She gets to reclaim that for herself and hopefully her baby. Lol okay essay over
100% agree with this comment. The moment Bjorn mentioned that he would keep eveyrtjing a secret, even if she and her children get ridicued, was eye opening. He prioritizes not even an ounce of dignity for her. He thiinks that he truly loves her, no he does not. How can you be okay with your wjfe being ridiculed over a lie you formulated? Something that has been weighing her down, you know that too; but you still dont get it. Idk how she had the heart to take Bjorn back after the shit hes put her through. Sure he wasnt physically abusive, but the trauma she mustve gone throguh
So true. I remember in the earlier chapters the comments used to insult Erna for her naivety and how she loves Bjorn so foolishly. But even then it was so clearly obvious that Erna was starving for love and affection.
Her mother died and her father abandoned her. She was so desperately looking for approval and acceptance that she just kept on quietly suffering from everything Bjorn would throw at her. She was so selfless and giving in the early phase of their relationship, thinking that someday Bjorn would come to love her back...it's genuinely heartbreaking.
Because the thing about Bjorn is that he's a parasite. He'll just keep in taking and taking without giving anything back because that's just his nature. I am so proud of Erna for once putting her self respect above her desperation.
If it were at all possible I wish that they had Erna finding a soft selfless love with someone who would treat her well
