idk it just gave nothing I think the way their relationship was shown made it feel dry and like they had no bond. The story fast forward through it so I couldn't really feel anything for them like it's hard to explain but I wish they made Akane a bit more irrational showing he was actually afraid of losing toui instead of him just distancing himself which contradicts everything i think it just lacked emotion everyone was way too calm for me i wanted more of Akane pov to feel his character more it was too focused on how toui sees and feels about Akane scars if im being truly honest i wish the story revolved around akane instead showing us the struggle with having his mindset, the self-harming and trying to love someone i think that's what would've hit home having struggling with the same thing cause yeah it's hard loving someone who hurts themselves but i think it's even harder to live with the thought of constantly wanting to hurt yourself
