ok hunny sit down
this is a flashback!! this was the original story shuli died by the hands of the church after believing the children hated her and didn’t want her at the wedding when in reality that was the opposite. ofc the story we know now is shuli’s second chance at life but these few chapters we are readings atm is her first life

The black color bg is the story from shuli previous life, the past 2 chap is about what happen after shuli’s death. She died after leaving Jeremy wedding cause Jeremy fiancé told Shuli that he didn’t want Shuli to attend the ceremony, so basically it was a misunderstanding.
The white bg is the present life which is her current one, where she tried to change between her & the kids relationship.

I kinda pity the crown prince. Yeah, he sucked but he was never really bad.. just a boy who wants to play around and be free. That's not an excuse for his behavior but it is understandable. I'm in for a redemption arc with the crown prince.

We also have to remember that this is the world of a story (in Melissa's old world). Ian's personality is the logical conclusion of the trope he's assigned, especially since the writer wasn't all that great at fleshing out tropes (as Melissa points out during her conflict with peacock).
Also, thats not toxic masculinity. Toxic masculinity is not "I literally dont care about your feelings." Jake is probably closer to toxic masculinity (masculine-coded violence as the ultimate power. Weakness in violence isn't tolerated, thus devaluing any non-violent work which has been historically feminie-coded. Still not a one-to-one comparison tho). Ian's just a dick.
That said, I'm also excited to see where they take his character. It's more fun to watch a pitiable character grow than to be written out with one note. The author has taken great care in order to deconstruct the typical male lead tropes that women drool over. It wouldn't suprise me if they intended to build them back up using genuinely growth and self-reflection.

To those who is currently reading, the beginning is great. A good plot, good story telling and great development. However, right in the middle, all the good parts stop and it becomes very lacking and boring. I would have even preferred to stop right at chapter 9-10, at the very peak, since from there there is only a downfall.
I pity the fox, however bad he may be. I'd ship iza and sana.. it's a game of fate.
